Great Pyrenees will guard their territory and their charges with little help from you. If you do not live in a high predator area, or your livestock herd is small, your dog may decide to increase its area of protection and move its borders beyond your property.
My cat owner neighbor has a neighbor below him who has 2 Great Pyrenees dogs. He has goats, sheep, chickens and what ever strikes his fancy on 5 acres . I had noticed his dogs and suppose he was tired of all these neighbor hood dogs taking his live stock. Last night at dusk I let miss 6 pound dog, Foxy out to do her evening chore. I was standing on the porch when I saw the Great Pyrenees dogs on patrol on the fence between me and cat man neighbor. They spotted his cat and gave chase, the cat escaped with his life up a tree. Foxy was standing next to me on the porch. I yelled at the white dog to GET no way was he going any where, he looked at me like "Just who do you think you are?"
Foxy is a big scared cat but if I am near she will give chase to any thing thinking I will back her up. Foxy growl at the dog and then she braced all 6 pounds of hair and bones and growled again. I thought oh oh she is going to go after the Great Pyrenees dogs . I opened the front door and she went flying in the house.
I read on line that the Great Pyrenees will increase their range if they have a small acres to patrol and I think that is what they have done. Bye-bye all the dogs that we have roaming our area. They might relieve us of some of these cats too.
I bet the next dogs we get dumped here wont last long.

I am glad he has those dogs. A few less cats would not hurt.
Your dog has grit as long as she has back up..
Patsy, I am so glad your dog did not get into it with those dogs and get hurt! You will probably start seeing less cats around your place.
