I was trying to count how many chickens I have hatched this year so far.
I started off with 26 under one Rhode Island red hen and they did great then I sold 30 at an auction . That 56 then all but 4 of the RIR hens chicks died or disappeared.
Oh yeah I forgot the seven I had with the White pekin that some one stole. I think that was neighbor kids, 56 + 7=63.
Then I had 30 in the brooder and only 1 lived. I think they got sick.. 63+30=93.
Then I had 30 in the brooder under 6 hens. I still have at least 16 of these. They are in the brooder with the corn stalks so can't be sure how many I have living in there. that is 93+30=123.
In the other brooder I have 13 under 4 hens so...123+13=136.
I gave 5 new hatches chick to my son so...136+5=141
That is all my chicks that came from my chickens this year to date.
I had bought 52 chicks from the hatchery. Red sexlinked birds. sold the week old roosters for 40 dollars . I had 26 pullets left. one died the first week. I sold 6 to my sister, I lost 7 to a unknown chick thief. so I had 13 pullets left. One had a crippled leg. Killed her. Now I have 12, 12 week old pullets . I promised brother 6 then I would have 6 pullets left.The bigger these pullets get the more sure I know I am not going to like them. They eat like horses and are flighty, when I go in the pen they squawk and run.I can see getting rid of all of them some day. The sexlinked pullets that is. You may think I am confused and you are correct.
What do you think about John McCain .I am only trying to count chicks but he is running for the highest office in the land, John and I are the same age and I was never tortured in a Vietnam prison camp of course I worked for Tyson foods for years and that amounts to torture. Poor John , poor me.

Damn, thats alot of chickens. How do you keep up with all of them? You would think with the price of eggs these days you would have a gold mine. I remember as kids we had chickens and every morning we could not wait to see how many eggs would be there for breakfest.
Patsy, that is a lot of chicks...and you are an old hen.
You know, since you are having to buy cat food and chicken feed, you could feed the extra chickens to the cats.
Patsy you crack me up! There is certainly nothing wrong with you. John McCain may be confused but I don't think you are. Maybe, you ought to run?? Bet you can run circles around him. I love your sense of humor.
