color and chickens

I like a lot of colors in my chickens and I have managed to get a nice rainbow of chickens this year.
The chickens have been eating cracked corn like there is no tomorrow. I think this is their way to prepare for the coming cold months.

I am thinking about putting a light in my chicken house this winter to promote egg laying. I read that if they have light for 14 hours a day in the months of winter they lay more eggs. I don't need more eggs but it might be fun to see what they would produce if they had lights. My luck would be that they would start setting more!
