I remembered finally

Sammy has a yard ornaments he is going to sell and he wanted you to see it. I tried to get my brain in gear for the name. First I thought double shovel then I remembered that plow had two blades and was used to plow between the rows. finally the fog was cleared away and I remembered TURNING PLOW!
Daddy used a plow like this to break ground for his crops on his bottom fields, the furrows were deep and the new plowed ground would roll off the plow and lay like a ribbon on top of the the previous plowed furrow.
I would follow along in the furrow and look for arrow heads, snake eggs or what ever the plow brought to light. I remember the furrow would be two feet deep or better . Daddy would put his weight on the plow so that it would go very deep in the rich earth and earth had a rich smell as it fell from the blade giving promise of a new harvest if the sun blessed the crop and the rain fell to nourish the seeds.
I also remember daddy laying on the floor at night to rest his weary body from the day of labor.
Daddy's feet hurt him when he did this work and he always needed good shoes for the job. One time he went to town to buy a new pair of shoes after the first day of plowing to wear while he plowed. After the plowing was finished he wanted to go back to his old comfortable shoes and he ask mama where are my old shoes and she told him she had burned them. daddy said I can't lay any thing down with out mama getting rid of it.

what do you see?

bird flew the coop!

I went to feed at 7 O'clock and a good thing I did one of my black australoups was on top of the pen. I have chicken wire on the top of the pen but over the years one end had worked loose and Sammy built the shelter in that corner. The chickens like to fly on top of the shelter and fly off well one Black australoup flew up and went threw the hole. she flew down when I went out and I managed to get her in the pen.
The hole is fixed now! I have noticed the black australoups are always pushing their boundary, reaching threw the fence trying to get grass or what ever.
It is misting rain here. It certainly has been a unusual august this year.
I suppose Betty is moving and doesn't have time to post. Fleta is sick I guess, she hasn't posted in a while ether.

My thoughts on Ted Kennedy

The other night there was a TV special about the Kennedy brothers and My son ask do you want to watch this program Mom? and I said No, I lived it.

I was 21 the year JFK was elected president and I voted for him, to me he was my hope for a better futher for me and my family and then they killed him. I am one of the people who believes that there is for more not known about John's death, OK, call my crazy but I believe that he was murdered by powerful men in our country and Oswald was their trigger man.

My hopes died with JFK and I never have been able to look at our political process with the same bright eyed young naivete since.

Then in 1968 My hope was born again with Bobbie, I thought he would stop the Vietnam war and perhaps my Camelot could live again and then he lay on the floor of the hotel kitchen and my dreams finally died a lasting death. I still grieve for what might have been if Bobbie had lived.

Now as to Teddy, I think he lived a flawed life, the drowning of the young woman was because he was drunk and with a woman he wasn't supposed to be with, he crawled out of the water and tried to hide until the next morning to protect his life from the scandal that would descend on him because of his reckless actions, I think. In the 80's he was bar hopping with his nephews and helped bring his sister's son to a drunken act of shame.

I also think in the last 20 years he has tried to make amends for his early sins and has done many things for the people of his state and our country but he never gave me back my hope and dreams because they lay in the graves in the Arlington cemetery with his two brothers and I am sure many of his dreams died there also. so no I am not watching the television of the Kennedy death. I can't. I am an old woman and I can not shed any more tears for Camelot and what might have been. Camelot will never be. He made a speach at the democrate convention last fall and said "the dream lives on "but my dream is dead Teddy, and I cry for what could have been and never will be again.

puppies

The trouble with leaving home for 3 days is the people you leave at home get to thinking for themselves and acting out their thoughts. My children bought these puppies while I was away. they are Chihuahua they are six weeks old and smaller than the money they spent on them.

scenes from the morning.

I managed to go feed the chickens this morning, Sammy said he would but I wanted to do the job. The chicks said Sammy did fine feeding them but they didn't get any greens so I cut some of their favorite weeds and they went wild enjoying the greens.
My red rose is blooming again. the pink flowering bush is a rose of Sharon.
I slept around the clock. wasn't able to sleep in the hospital so it took me a while to catch up. I was glad to get my on my computer and visit with everyone after I fixed all the things my daughter had messed up. I feel fairly well and I think I will have two of my home grown eggs for breakfast.

I hear you

The surgeon told his patient that woke up after having been operated: "I'm afraid we're going to have to operate you again. Because, you see, I forgot my rubber gloves inside you."
"Well, if it's just because of them, I'd rather pay for them if you just leave me alone."

Living and dying

This is my thinking on living and dying, I want to live as long as I can, I want to be able to struggle out in the morning to feed the chicken, set in the sun and watch them. I want to have control over my choices. I don't want some young surgeon who has only one thought that is to cut me open and then leave me to suffer in some hospital bed until I die.
While I was in the hospital I had to beg for a couple of Tylenol to easy my aching bones. Very few Doctors are able or willing to consider a life worth living and a death with out suffering needless pain.
I am not going to kill my self, God gives life and he will take it but I know that if they cut me open I will suffer until I die and still die. If I get to the place that they must operate and that is the only option I will do it . I know that my body is finished and I will not heal so I am going to avoid the knife as long as I can.
I f I can choice I will die in my own bed. We don't always get our wishes but some times we do. The doctor that has been my doctor tells me not to let them cut unless there is no other option and that is what I am going to do. As for this day I am alive and in my home not suffering and living.Tomorrow we will see what comes.

escaped to live another day.

I have escaped again. I spent three days in the Berryville hospital and I am better for a few days. I enjoyed telling everybody that I was very anxious for Obama to get the death panel set up so they could get paid for consulting me about the end of life choices.
A young surgeon wanted to cut me open but I finally convinced him that I wasn't going for that until all other choices were used.
I am very sorry that Eward Kennedy has died but I still have hope that Obama and the Democrats in congress and the Senate will see the health plan brought to fruit in memory of Ted Kennedy.
I told the doctor that was seeing me in the hospital that I was ready to face the end of life option and was not interested in the miracle cures that would leave me laying some where in a hospice crying HELP ME. Onward and upward.

Former Vice President Dan Quayle, Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and President Bill Clinton are traveling by car in Kansas. A tornado comes along and whirls them up into the air and tosses them many miles away. They fall into a daze. When they come to and extract themselves from the vehicle, they realize they're in the fabled Land of Oz. They decide to go see the famous Wizard of Oz, known for granting people their wishes. Quayle announces: "I'll ask the Wizard for a brain."Gingrich responds: "I'll ask him for a heart." Clinton looks around and says: "Where's Dorothy?"

from cousin Winnie

There were five country parishes in a small TEXAS town: the Presbyterian Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the Catholic Church, and the Jewish Synagogue. Each church and Synagogue was overrun with pesky squirrels.
One day, the Presbyterian Church called a meeting to decide what to do about the squirrels. After much prayer and consideration, they determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will..
In the BAPTIST CHURCH, the squirrels had taken up habitation in the baptistry. The deacons met and decided to put a cover on the baptistry and drown the squirrels in it. The squirrels escaped somehow, and there were twice as many there the next week
The Methodist Church got together and decided they were not in a position to harm any of God's creation. So they humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free a few miles outside of town. Three days later, the squirrels were back. But -- the Catholic church came up with the best and most effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and registered them as members of the church. Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter.
Not much was heard about the Jewish Synagogue, but they took one squirrel and had a short service with him called circumcision, and they haven't seen a squirrel on the property since.

rain

The chick pen was soaked this morning. I dumped in some wood chips and now they have some greens to eat. I must decide how I am going to get them into the hen house soon.

bear arms

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

When ask by a reporter why some of the people who were carrying guns at these public meetings one man replied because I can. Arizona is a right to carry arms as is Arkansas and I think this is as it should be but there are times I think just because you can do isn't reason to do something.

I believe that guns are a right but also I believe that we have a responsibility to keep the guns in a responsible manner.

I own a 22 rifle but it is put away out of sight and is not loaded. If I take that gun out and load it it is to kill or main some thing. If I take that gun out and start marching around with it in my yard for a extended time some one will call the cops and they should because there is a slight chance the old woman has gone around the bend.

These people going around at these town hall meeting with their guns strapped on are giving the gun control people another reason to push gun control. these men are going to wake up some day with a law saying they can't own or bear arms.

In the words of Forrest Gump, that all I am going to say about that!

implied threat

If I was looking out my door and see 12 people carrying military style rifles I would feel threatened , how about you? implied threat or just being good ole boys?

PHOENIX - About a dozen people carrying guns, including one with a military-style rifle, milled among protesters outside the convention center where President Barack Obama was giving a speech Monday — the latest incident in which protesters have openly displayed firearms near the president.
In the 1970's a young 17 year old came out of the hill in Carroll co. to our town. He got cross ways with our local cops and they beat him and sent him home to the hills. That Saturday his uncle and father appeared in our town both men were carrying hunting rifles over their shoulders. They did not speak to any one, they just walked around on the side walks. Our local law left town until the men went back to the hills. Our law knew what a implied threat was.

Ted Kennedy lives still.

Yesterday secertary of health Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory.

Today Obama is going to see Ted Kennedy I will give you one guess as to what the conversation will be about. Essential elements!

calico cats

useless information or rare knowledge.
My neighbor has a calico or tortoiseshell cat and I never knew how rare this color cat was until I started reading about them on the net. Most calico cats are female and this neighbors cat is female. This has to do with the chromosomes x any y. A female has two x chromosomes and a male has x and y chromosomes, a calico cat has to have two x chrosomones hence most calico cats are female.
A male cat can be calico but they will have xxy chrosomones and this happens only in 1 of 3000 births. These male calico cats are always sterile.
Tortoiseshell describes a coat coloring found almost exclusively in female cats. Cats of this color are mottled, with patches of red and black, chocolate, or cinnamon. They are sometimes called torties for short.
The term "tortoiseshell" (also called calimanco or clouded tiger in North America) is typically reserved for cats with brindled coats that have relatively few or no white markings.
Those that are largely white with red and black patches (rather than a brindled aspect) are described as tortoiseshell-and-white (in the United Kingdom) or calico (in Canada and the United States). Tortoiseshells and calicos are not specific breeds of cat. The tortoiseshell markings appear in many different breeds

trees and apples

This is Fleta's grandson, he is like his grandmother apparently, last week he was with her and told her to stop at the dollar tree and buy him one of the trees.
While speaking about Iraq he called Iraq that "Shot you in the ass country!" the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in this case.

raining chickens

The chicks have their greens every morning along with corn and pellets. The neighbor boys knocked on the door the other evening they were carrying the biggest white rose comb rooster you would ever see. They said we brought you a chicken! I told them to take it back to who ever they stole it from. They said we didn't steal it it was in our yard. I said do you think God is raining chicken today?

remembering Bill Webb.

Since Bill Webb has been dying I have been remembering all the things that happened over the years and the many good laughs we had at Webbs expense. for many years Bill was the god father at Tyson , you didn't get hired unless Bill hired you and if you were fired he did that too. although he didn't fire many people.
Once upon a time in the years gone by Bill hired this old woman, she was 80 years old if she was a day. She had blew into town on the grey hound bus and took a room in the local flea bag hotel.
We really enjoyed her stay at Tyson but Bill Webb didn't have much joy in her work, first place he didn't have a job she could do and besides she didn't have mind enough to do the job if there had been such a job.
She came to work when she wanted, at any hour that suited her and Bill had to talk to the lady not that he cared if she didn't come to work but the rest of his crew would soon pick up her habits.
So Webb had a chat with her about coming to work ever day, she did she came down to work on Sunday morning and Monday morning she chewed Bill out for not being there to unlock the door.
She walked the 3 blocks to work, most of us picked her up and brought her to work once but never again she talked so crazy we were afraid of her. On her walk she carried this big club to fight off any young boys who might decide to rape her she explained. She packed her lunch and took it on the line to eat at will.
One day after 6 weeks she was gone and we heard the law picked her up seems she had escaped from a nut house down south. I ask Bill why did you hire that old woman? Bill said I was afraid not too because a fellow had ask for a job and I told him he was too old to do the work. He turned me into the labor board and I got in trouble so I thought they had sent her to try and get me in trouble again. Bill was aways truthful and he provided us with a lot of good laughs over the years at his expense.

Hillary Clinton

I suppose Hillary Clinton is sick and tired of standing behind her man.
I saw on TV while she was in Africa some student ask her what Mr. Clinton thought about some subject, later he explained he meant Mr. Obama but never the less when Hillary heard the question she was angry no question about it.
She informed the student she was sectary of state not her husband! I guess she has finally decided to stand in front of her man.
She might be sick and tired of trying to explain what Mr. Obama thinks also. She wanted to be president and ended up being a puppet on a string.
Eunice shiver died. 88 years old. she was JFK's sister, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger mother-in-law and might have felt she was more than some Male's relative. She established the special Olympias and was active in many good works.

goverment health insurance

Robert Kocher of the National Economic Council debunks the myth that Health Insurance Reform would be financed by cutting Medicare benefits. To the contrary, reform would simply eliminate waste and unnecessary subsidies to insurance companies

Linda Douglass of the White House Office of Health Reform debunks the myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors. To the contrary, reform will expand your choices, not eliminate them.

Melody Barnes, the President's Director of the Domestic Policy Council, debunks the malicious myth that reform would encourage or even require euthanasia for seniors.

Kavita Patel, who works with Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett and who worked for years before as a physician, debunks the myth that reform will mean a "government takeover" of health care or lead to "rationing." To the contrary, reform will forbid many forms of rationing that are currently being used by insurance companies.

Tune in on this web site and read about the goverment health insurance plan. Everyone needs to see what the plan is and what it is not. come on everybody and help debunk the lies that the insurance companies are spreading. Let the message go forth we the people are sick of all the lies and we want HEALTH CARE !

death panel

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich defended the bizarre claim by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin that the president's health care plan would result in a "death panel" that could kill her Down Syndrome son.

Newt and Palin both of these people do not hold any government job at this time, Palin quit and Newt got kicked because of his sexual choices now they are trying to stop the health care bill with lies. I wonder if they both be could be on the insurance companies pay roll?

I saw two advertisement on our local Springfield Mo. TV station yesterday against the health care bill both were clearly paid for by the insurance companies. We have death panels now they set on the insurance companies board. If a company refuses treatment for your aliment are they not sending you to a early grave?

Insurance companies, Hospitals and doctors have grown rich while people suffer and die needless . Do you think these big 3 have the public interest at heart or are they trying to accumulate more wealth ?

People need to look closely at the garbage going out on the air waves and decide "Who's your daddy?"

plain as the nose on your face.

Obama received a letter from a older American the other day and this lady might be a candidate for the forced death shot the government is supposedly planning for useless old people in this country if there was a plan like this, of course she is on medicare, so we don't have to wait for any dark secret plan that might be in the new health plan. she wrote....

"I got a letter the other day from a woman. She said, 'I don't want government-run health care. I don't want socialized medicine. And don't touch my Medicare.'

The 65 year and older crowd in this country should be the first group to come out in favor of health care for all Americans but it seems many of the oldsters have started down the road to dementia and can't see something that is as plain as the nose on their face.

rush to puke.

rush Limbaugh has proved beyond a doubt that he is a jack ass. Here is what he said about Bill Clinton yesterday...RUSH: All right, folks. I am going to say what everyone else is thinking and I know that you are thinking it because everybody's thinking it. Did Bill Clinton hit on those two female journalists on the long flight home from North Korea? I mean, how can I say it? I'm not saying he did, but given his past it does cross one's mind.

Gore knows Clinton again

In my opinion Al Gore would have been president if he had just recognized that Bill Clinton was asset to his campaign but instead he push Clinton away from him like he was afraid he would soil his person because of Clinton's sex scandals.

This photo shows Gore and Clinton at the airport when Bill brought the to journalist home. I read some where that when Bill shakes the hand of a political enemy he always placed his left hand on the elbow of the other person so he could pull them to himself , note Bill Clinton's hand on Gore's elbow. this photo caused me to chuckle.

Bill Webb

I am sad tonight, I have heard that my old friend is dying. I worked for years in Evisceration at Tyson foods and you can't even imagine how hard we as a group worked. The physical pain in that work is almost more than a person can bare. Most of the bosses we had we had no respect for because they were riding on our back and they were a sorry lot to say the least.

This was not the case with Bill Webb he was the most sincere, hard work person who always did his best to do his job as the best as he could and he always looked after our interest in the work place..

I had ,over my working years, a mission to cut the big shots down to size. I enjoyed doing this and I can say that I was very good at my mission but I never cut Bill Webb down because he is a giant among men and I knew he was my friend every day that I worked at Tyson Foods.

I never had friends, I just had my family, brothers, sisters, children and blood kin but I did have one friend and his name is Bill Webb and I can hardly bare to see him go.

rooster crowed

The sound went forth from the chicken pen this morning at day break yes, the young rooster crowed. This is the first time I have heard this sound since Kelly hauled the mean old rooster off to sell. I have two roosters in the pen the larger rooster is out of the red sex link hen and the smaller darker feather rooster is from the Rhode Island bantam and the big rooster. the crow I heard was a low base crow so I think it was the bigger boy but time will tell.
It is suppose to get close to 100 degrees today. Hot and humid.

chickens

Sammy built a shade/rain shelter for my chickens and they like to get up there and fly off.

the fox

I aways like to see photos of the red fox, they remind me of my youth when there were many on the hill above our home and when daddy had fox hounds and would go hunting for the fox.
It is a pleasant morning a gentle breeze is blowing and the temperature is in the low 70's. The chicks are enjoying this good morning. last evening I noticed the evening was unusually quite and then I realized there were no yelping dogs at the neighbors house. The elimination of dogs may have started. Just now I looked out the window and they had their rottweiler on a chain, they keep her inside at night, she is about ready to drop pups so the silence will not last long. The cat population has diminished also.
I am so lazy I don't gather eggs every day and when I got the eggs this morning I had a dozen
in the house. the hens have laid a egg ever day since it was 2 days since I had gathered the eggs.

lot of shaking going on

seen on TV they had a earth quake in the gulf of Mexico off California and they felt it in Phoenix. sister will have something to post now.

monday

When I opened the front door my chicks were taking flying lessons. They were all going to the high places and then flying off their perch. I feed chick starter and scratch which is cracked corn and millet seed then I have to gather weeds out of the fence row for them not just any weed mind you they have their favorite weed. I don't know the name of this weed but this weed grows 5 feet tall and they turn up their beak at any other weeds. It is safe to say they are spoilt chicks.
The weather is suppose to be hot this week after two weeks of the 80's it is suppose to get into the 90's now reaching a high of 97 by Wednesday maybe the tomatoes will ripen.
We are having the cat/ dog war on the hill. The people down the hill have a boxer dog with 6 young about half grown. Yesterday they turned the young ones out and they came into the neighbors yard killing one of the kittens that I have shown on my blog. The kitty owners called the sheriff and believe it or not he show up or perhaps it was a deputy.
The dog people said our dogs are in the pen they don't run loose then along came the mama dog running free so then the boxer owners said those kitty people let their dogs run loose. kitty people don't own dogs. The dogs belong to the neighbor that lives above us and my sons dogs.
Son told me this story because I try not to talk to the kitty people and I suppose the sheriff could not do much because we don't have leash laws here.
The law usual tell people that you can kill an animal if it is on your property and creating maham so I suppose that is what he told the kitty people. I expect to hear boom, bomb! because kitty man said he had a shot gun if the boxer people have a gun we may have less dogs on the hill.
I told my son his dogs might be shot but he said his dogs were not bothering anything so we will see what happens next. I think my son has a very optimist out look on kitty/dog wars

Finlay I have fruit on the tomato plants. no ripe one yet but one is turning. This has been a very odd year for growing any thing but grass.

My morning glory has blooms . These plants grow every year around the porch and this year they are late blooming.

white rock

well I'll be a monkeys uncle

AlaskaReport has learned this morning that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage have confirmed the news.
A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska

chicks

Changes, I removed that stuff Betty, I was tired of all that rock and rolling.
The chicks are 11 weeks old Monday and I checks my posts for last year and found I got chicks on may 7 and they were laying by October so I think will have new hens laying by October.
Betty if you want new pullets this year you had better let me know. I would give you last years hens but I think they would kill your hens or try and it would be a problem. I think Gilbert might be able to keep them because he lets his run loose. These pullets will be free of charge.
Of course your red hens might kill any new chicks.

Sheriff Joe

Sister's sheriff is being pushed around by Home land security or at least they are trying to push him around. The self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff in America" has never gotten so much resistance from the federal government.
The Homeland Security Department wants Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., to stop arresting illegal immigrants whose only crime was crossing the U.S.-Mexico border without document.
Janet Napolitano head of homeland security was governor of Arizona before coming to Washington DC. Could there be some bad blood there?
When Napolitano took the office she promised to safeguard the country from terrorists, protect its borders and strengthen the six-year-old department. It will be interesting to see if she can make sheriff Arpaio heel.
