That all I am going to say about that.

I will be 72 years old next Monday and today I read that a 72 year old woman was living with and mating I might add with her 26 year old grandson. I want all my family to know I am not that crazy yet and come to think about it I only have one grandson and he is not crazy either.

I had to water my garden today, the wind has blown a lot the last few days and every thing has dried out.

I got all my chicken chores finished for the day and am happy to report all are doing well.

Poor Obama he can't win for losing, I read he was considering promoting coal as an alternate fuel source then the coal mine blew up. A few days ago he said he might be interested in more off shore drilling for oil , now the oil rig blew up in the ocean and oil has reached the shores of the US of A with out the benefit of a pipe line.

Kelly came by and gathered lettuce and onions for super. His wife brought me a nice pj set for my birthday.

I saw that Schwarzenegger said he would like to run for president, that wasn't exactly a big surprise was it?

I told you so

I told sister while we were discussing the new immigration law in Arizona that I thought this might be a reason for issuing a national ID card and I saw this on a news site today.
The Democrats also called for creation of a high-tech identification card for immigrant workers, a process to admit temporary workers, "tough sanctions" against U.S. employers who hire illegal immigrants, and, eventually, a path toward U.S. citizenship for people in the country unlawfully. now folks you know if aliens are required to carry a nation ID card then we as citizens will have to have one also.
A national ID card is something that has been in the wind for several years and I think the time has arrived much to my sorrow.
I am reminded of the Bible verse, "and no one will be able to buy or sell with out the mark of the beast."

tears are flowing

some times I don't hold much hope for our government but when I saw this photo of the president openly weeping at the funeral of Dorthy Height I thought maybe we do have a leader with a heart after all.
Tears streaming down his cheeks, grief overcame Barack Obama today as he attended the funeral of the woman he called the 'Godmother' of the American civil rights movement.
The U.S. president was weeping openly as he watched the service for Dorothy Height in Washington today.

Beer bottles and books.

There is a fellow in Australia that has built a house with beer bottles, It took him 19 years and a few months. When the wind blows in the bottles the wind makes a whistling noise. He states he is willing to give lesson about how he did it but I know how he built it he drank a lot of beer.
Laura Bush has wrote a book, amazing when you consider she never opened her mouth for 8 long years. I don't have it on my reading list and W. Bush has a book out not on my list. I think Ole Dick Chaney is doing his memoirs, notice the other two wrote a book but Chaney is doing a Memoirs. W's brain ,Rove has written a book but He is trying to promote his book but every time he appears for a book signing the pink ladies show up to put him in jail.
Sister thought The codepink was a organization for the fight against breast cancer and I disagreed thinking they were a organization of lesbians.
I looked them up , seems we were both wrong.
They are a political organization formed in 2002 by 3 women to protest the war in Iraq and they took the name codepink as a pun mocking George W.'s terrorist code alert system.

a week old today

The chicks are a week old today and one more week and they can go out side. I had put a covering over their brooder but I remove it last night because they didn't need the extra heat.
The sun is shining today so maybe it will warm up some.

Rain

This chicks raising is hard work when you have two brooders going. I have to clean two brooders and that is more than I want to do. It is rainy here again today. I wish the sun would shine.

A bright idea

I had 6 tomato plants, cucumber seed, Marigolds seeds and Zinnia seeds I wanted to plant that meant I was going to have to dig up more dirt out of the chicken pen when it dawned on me I don't need both pens this summer because I only have 12 hens now so I closed off the pen I was getting the dirt from and planted ever thing in the chicken pen. This should work fine the dirt is broke up well and rich so I can grow the tomatoes and tie them to the wire fence and no worry about the dogs digging them up.

Wesummers

I've a chick with it's eye swell shut and another with one eye shut, I may lose all the welsummer chicks. I suppose that is what I get for ordering the rare chicks. I should have known there was a reason for the rarity of the breed.
looks like rain again, Wish it would clear up.
I have hot peppers to set out but no place to set them. I will have to dig more dirt.

cats and dogs

chicks

feed store chicks
Welsummer chicks

Welsummers

the chickens I ordered from cackle are suppose to lay eggs that are a deep chocolate color as for looks they look a lot like the brown leghorn only plumper.
I had to kill the one the others had picked at it's eyes were swollen shut and it couldn't see to eat or drink and I think if you have a chick that is in poor health you should cull it before it makes the others sick.
You are supposed to be able to sex these chicks by their eye markings if this is true I have 7 pullets and 2 roosters and the one I killed was a pullet. I ordered st right run so if I get 7 pullets out of 10 cackle did well by me.
We had a lot of rain ,I hope it is over for a time.

no phone no Internet

It rained here all night, I went out in the rain to feed all my out side chickens, came back in and took care of the inside chicks then I went out and planted tomatoes. I turned on the computer, no Internet. tried the phone no phone, I got Janet's cell phone and after hunting I found the number for the phone company.
When I call the phone company I get this machine that tell me to Punch number so they can decide why I am calling. I went around and around punching number then Janet woke up and she started calling. I told them our phone line was down but she told them our dsl wasn't working so they had me do all this stuff and I ask what good will that do if the phone line is down? remember Glen Campbell's song, Lineman?
While I was waiting I went out on the porch and Sammy's pup had dug up 2 of my tomatoes! I tied the dang fool up and then came back to talk to the lineman again.
After 3 hours I am on the net again and I have what tomatoes I have left covered and pup tied. so my morning is not going well but Janet did cook me breakfast.
Now Janet wants the computer and it is raining again so I may not get back on here for a week.

crazy chicks

I had ordered chicks before I got the feed mill chicks and they arrived today. I ordered welsummer chicks these chickens lay the real dark eggs. I have had a problem with these chicks they are pecking each other. I never had chicks do this before. I have been busy trying to do something to keep them from killing each other. I did a search on line and found some said to put a few drops of vinegar in the water and that has seemed to help. I never saw chicks behave the way these are.
It has rained off and on all day here.
my tomato plant that I started from seed have not done well so today I went and bought some plants. I will set them out tomorrow. I meant to set them out today but I have been busy try to keep the chicks from eating each other.

road to oak grove

click on the photo and you can see the highway, Helen

I had company

Kelly, Donnie and Emma came by to see me today.

Lee Wise, our neighbor

My old neighbor pulls grass around the fence rows where Sammy didn't get close enough to suit him so he is bringing a wheel borrow full of grass for my chickens. The hens love the grass, they can scratch all day.
Lee is my example of old age, I think he is 86 years old and he works in his yard every day either he junks out scrap copper and steel or he crawls around and pulls grass and I mean all day.
My knees are sore and stiff and I have trouble getting around but I see him going down on his knees he start to kneel and then he just falls so I tell my self if he can do that I can do a little in the yard and not set on the computer all the time.

new camera, new day

Yesterday I got in the brooder and crawled around with a pillow case and caught the feed mile chicks. They are in the grow out pen now and they seem to like the greens that are growing there.

no bird photos this morning , I had the camera but it was cloudy and the birds were hiding.

Nephew Donnie the chicken house cleaner is coming over today and I am giving him another setting hen.
I am still trying to learn to use the new camera, it isn't as easy to use as you might think but at least I am not wasting film as you would on the old type cameras,I just put them on the computer and then delete.

72 years soon

Fleta gave me a camera, Betty said she was sending me something, Helen has promised me cloths so Clayton what are you buying your sister for her 72 birthday? You brothers and sister should be extra proud of me siblings tend to live about the same number of years so you have a few more years to go if you can reach my bench mark

happy birthday to me

For those who don't know I will 72 years old May 3, sister came today and brought me some hay, some tubs to plant vegetables in AND a new camera, this is her old camera but new to me , It is a Kodak that will take close ups up to the power of 12. I have been trying to learn to use it, I messed up the card some how and I thought i will have to call Fleta and tell her I have broke it but I put the card in my computer and the computer ask me do you want to fix this card that you tore up because you didn't know beans about this camera? I clicked yes and bingo the computer said OK, it is fixed. This is my bird house that is my walnut tree if there had been birds on the house you would have been able to see them. In the morning I am going to take photo Of birds from my front porch.

marijuana

California is trying to legalise Marijuana and I believe this is long over due. The best argument I have seen of late is the states can tax the sale and make money for their empty coffers. This just might bring the cows home.
The reasons I think it should be legal are, tobacco is legal, alcoholic is and many other things are for sale as legal purchases and it is hypocritical to single out the weed for special punishment.
Our prisons would not be crowded if you remove the drug users and many crimes are committed to gain money for the habit so we would have less people behind bars and that would save a Hugh amount of money maintaining prisons.
Come on let them have their weed , lives have been wrecked over the use of marijuana and the law making it illegal and the people who have profited from this law are really the criminals.

mans best friend, NOT!

I had my tires full of dirt but I am going to wait a few days before I put anything in them , it is a good thing because I went out and the dogs, mine and the neighbors dug holes in the dirt. I took the water hose and soaked the dirt good. I will see if they like mud.
The chickens are doing well.I have revised my count on roosters, I now think I have 2 roosters and 7 pullets.
I have been dragging containers up to hold the extra dirt son brought me. I now have 2 old totes and one large flower pot filled with dirt.

Timbuktu

Timbuktu, This is a city in Africa, When I was a girl my mother had an expression "from here to Timbuktu", I have often wandered where she picked up this expression since she never read a book or even a newspaper. I don't think she got the expression from daddy because I never heard him use it and I am sure mother had not a clue as where Timbuktu was or why the expression was used. In the 15 and 16 century it was a place to rest from your travels along the great trade routes of the known world.
Timbuktu was on the silk road during ages past a very important city but today is is a poverty stricken place of mud huts. It is still important in west Africa because the people produce rock salt to be exported.

gardening in tires

My son Tony brought me a pickup load of good rick, mellow turkey dirt so I am going to grow vegetables again . I have onions up and he went home with a arm load he said he was going to have white beans and onions for supper.
I have plenty of dirt to grow tomatoes. I gave him most of my tomato plants I had started in the house. I keep about 25 I transplanted yesterday into a lard bucket if they die I Will have to buy plants.

no name sister

Two sister, Patsy and Fleta were playing card a activity they had enjoyed for years, Patsy said "now don't you get angry but for the life of me I can't remember your name, what is your name?" Fleta glared at Patsy for a few minutes and then said "how soon do you need to know?"

You can see I have been doing a lot of serous work on the computer since I got dsl.

dsl

I have dsl and now I am trying to learn to use it.

picked chicken

Sister wants to know if this chicken is sick, I don't believe it is ill. I think this is feather picking, sometimes caused by over crowding and sometimes caused by not enough protein in the diet. It may be moulting but it is the wrong time of year for that so I think the other chickens are picking at her for what ever reason.
Betty had posted this 3 days ago and some how I missed it, she also sent me a photo by email a few weeks ago and I thought she was joking.

Rooster?

I am sure this is a rooster what is your opinion?
Janet little dog got out day before yesterday and a dog bit her she is not so bold and brave now. She discovered that the world is not always friendly and when we go out she stays close to me.
my lettuce, onions and radishes are doing well I
watered them yesterday, the raised beds are dryer than the rest of the land.
No dsl yet perhaps today. Janet is really anxious to get it set up. I am sure people at work have been filling her in about had great it is.

I went out to gather eggs, I got twelve, then I smelled the sweetest perfume on the air after looking around I realized it was the wild cherry tree's blooms. smelled like pure delight.

We are expecting the dsl person today and then we should be on the fast track.
my wild cherry tree is in full bloom. Spring has sprung indeed.

Oh no. Oh boy!

I received some bad news today and some good news. When my daughter went to get the mail I had a letter from my Internet provide and they are going to stop service in our area on May first.
I thought oh, I will have time to find another provider and i have 2 weeks then I began to think of all the things I couldn't do when I couldn't get on the net so i decided I had to do something now!
They are coming tomorrow to hook me up to a DSL provider. I have always been on dial up so tomorrow will be a new experience for me.
Sister is loosing her provider also but I don't know what she is going to do.
Now I have to find how I can excess my blog when I get another email address. I may have to call Mr. Google.

I am on a roll today

Full of Baloney
Easy Test There are only 5 questions, so don't get all excited and confused yet.Take the test presented here to determine if you're losing it or not. The spaces between the question and answers below are there so you don't see the correct answers until you've made your answer.OK, relax, clear your mind and begin.1. What do you put in a toaster?Answer: "bread." If you said "toast," maybe you should give up now and do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said, bread, go to Question 2.2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell it: "s-i-l-k." What do cows drink?Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk," maybe you shouldn't even attempt to answer the next question. Your brain is apparently over-stressed and may even overheat. Content yourself with reading more appropriate literature, such as comic books. However, if you said "water", proceed to question 3.3. If a red house is made from red bricks, and a blue house is made from blue bricks, and a pink house is made from pink bricks, and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said "green bricks," why are you still reading these questions? You should go back to elementary school. If you said "glass," go on to Question 4.4. It's 1985, and a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany (If you will recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany). During the flight, two engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he can do so and the plane fatally crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany. Where would you bury the survivors? East Germany, West Germany, or no man's land"?Answer: You don't bury survivors. If you said anything else, you're in real bad shape and for your own sake you must stop. If you said, "You don't bury survivors", proceed to the next question.5. You must do this without using a calculator: You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on. In Swindon, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on. In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at Milford Haven. What is the name of the bus driver?Answer: Oh, for crying out loud! "Not enough information to know" is not the correct answer! Don't you remember your own name? Or have you forgotten it was you driving the bus?!
