turnips

I grew turnips planted in the spring which I thought would not be anything but tops but i found enough to cook for me, no one else will eat turnips here. a good thing.
They only thing that i could figure was the cool damp spring we have been having because usually they want make bulbs in the spring.

dryed beans

A 91 year old woman died and over the years she said many times never throw out dry beans in a jar. While clearing her home to sale the daughter found a jar of pinto bean and in memory of her mother she took it home to keep. The next day she found 3 more jars of dried beans and opening one of the jars to pour the beans in the trash along with the beans there spilled out a roll of money amounting to several thousands dollars. The other two jars had the same as well as the jar daughter had moved to her home.
needless to say all family members are searching for more beans.

sale chicks and 4 new hatch

I think summer has arrived.
Sammy has been moving his sale chicks to another pen. He had another little yellow chick in the hen house today. One of his setting hens is part silkie and she is calling the barred hens chicks to her as soon as they can walk. I don't know how she does this but she does and the barred hen is very up set.
I have a puzzle, I let Donnie's wife get some lettuce and I showed her how to cut it off with the scissors. I have done this a hundred times over the years and it grows back but the lettuce she cut off, it died . I never saw any thing like it in my life. I don't know why, maybe she had something on her hands that killed it or perhaps she crushed the stems. I have heard of people having a black thumb instead of a green thumb maybe she has a black thumb.

No rain in the forecast. good.
My niece has finished some dresses Helen had started and never finished. Thank you Kris, I haven't seen them yet but they are in the mail.
I picked up a comment from a reader who didn't like what I said about the secret morgue in Joplin he started his comment LADY, now I figure when he said lady, he really meant Bitch, so why not say so. I can take it and he has the right to disagree.

DON'T COME BACK! Police Threaten CNN Journalist Looking For "Secret Morg...

DNA and Joplin morgue

I have been thinking, a hard thing for me to do,any way I was studying as to why the people in Joplin were not allowed access to the morgue, I saw a report where CNN tried to drive down this road no building in sight and you could see down the road for at least a 1/4 mile, these three men stopped the CNN van and ask what are you doing? CNN said they were going down this road the guys knew the morgue was on the road. The 3 men who said they were cops maybe were maybe not they were in jeans and shirts and didn't show badges. The cops told them turn that camera OFF! now nothing in sight except 3 men and trees, OK? maybe they didn't want their faces on the TV!
The Governor said they were doing DNA on the bodies so the way I figure the DNA would be available if you had lost a love one but some one, a relative would have to do a DNA to match so maybe the closed morgue is a money thing, how much money would be made if everyone had to do a DNA to find their love one? also would there be a charge for comparing the DNA? Money is the root of all evil, I saw reports where looters were in Joplin so maybe the morgue is a DNA scheme to make money.
After all who wouldn't pay for a DNA test to find your love one and know what had happen to them?
If this is what is a foot perhaps the fact will come out and some legal action will take place. I can not think of anything worse that people who try to make a buck on people who have suffered this tragedy.
I know this sounds like a impossible thing but I have lived long enough to suspect people in high places and especially people in government so maybe DNA is a money making deal for someone.

more duck weather

I saw a report on CNN last night that tore at my heart. A 16 year old boy was missing and his family had been searching for him since last Sunday. unfortunately he was found dead in a morgue in Joplin but at least his family knows his fate now. They were not allowed to enter the morgue but a friend of the family was able to gain entrance and found the boy.
I am sure the reason the family was denied excess to the morgue the workers were so busy and didn't want to take the time to help the family, it is a sad fact but sometimes people get so full of themselves and how important they think they are they just can't be bothered by the public and if CNN had not taken up the families plight the family would still not know about their son.
The Governor of Mo. was on the interview of CNN and he was hard pushed to explain why no one was allowed excess to the morgue. He promised that they would do better as of today.

in the news

Casey Anthony who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter in Florida has made several charges about her family through her lawyer, One her father let the child drown in the swimming pool by accident and then covered the death up by disposing of the little girl's body. Miss Anthony's lawyer has charged that Anthony's father molested his daughter when she was a child also the brother was accused of fathering the little girl until DNA proved that charge was false.
This is a real smother trial. Anthony's lawyer is throwing everything out there as an excuse for the murder of the child. Casey Anthony has to be a very rotten person but of course a mother who would kill her two old and then dump the body is capable of anything.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is accused of using state fund to have people escort his bimbos to hotel rooms also it has been disclosed that if any of the workers dared look him in the eye they were fired on the spot. The daughter of the mistress has said that Arnold told her mother that Maria Arnold's wife refused to have sex and that was the reason he was on the prowl that excuse is as old as Adam and has been used by every low life cheating husband since Adam.
Last but not least ...Not that he needed the reminder, but Newt Gingrich is getting one anyway: All press isn’t good press for presidential candidates.

Politico delivered the latest PR blow to Gingrich’s nascent campaign, reporting Tuesday that the former House speaker once owed – and may still owe – between $250,001 and $500,000 to the upscale jewelry store Tiffany and Co.Not a good start to running for president. Newt said he and his family were frugal and times are hard but we all live with in our means. One of the on air comedians said that Newt bought his engagement rings at the same time and that was why the bill was so high, 3 wives 3 engagements.

Nixa family and USDA

It started out as a hobby, a way for the Dollarhite family in Dixa, Mo., to teach a teenage son responsibility. Like a lemonade stand.

But now, selling a few hundred rabbits over two years has provoked the heavy hand of the federal government to the tune of a $90,643 fine. The fine was levied more than a year after authorities contacted family members, prompting them to immediately halt their part-time business and liquidate their equipment.

The Dollarhite’s story, originally picked up by local Missouri blogger Bob McCarthy, has turned into a call to arms for critics of the government’s reach and now has both Democratic and Republican lawmakers vowing to intervene.

John and Judy Dollarhite began selling rabbit meat by the pound in 2006, and as pets to neighbors and friends in 2008.

Raised on the three-acre lot on which their home sits, the rabbits were heralded by local experts for their quality and kept in pristine conditions.

When a local pet store asked them to supply their pet rabbits, the Dollarhites had no idea they would be running afoul of an obscure federal regulation that prohibits selling more than $500 worth of rabbits to a pet store without a license from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Under the law, pet stores are exempt from regulation.
It wasn’t until April 19, though, that the Dollarhites received official word from USDA.

A letter from Sarah Conant, the chief of the Animal Health and Welfare Enforcement branch of USDA’s enforcement division, said, “Our investigation shows that you have violated the United States Code of Federal Regulations … You may … settle this matter by paying $90,643.”

A draft settlement agreement attached to the letter specified that the Dollarhites had, according to USDA’s investigation, sold 619 rabbits in 56 transactions over almost two years.

The Dollarhites told USDA they aren’t accepting the “offer.”

“My client rejects that proposal,” wrote their attorney, Richard Anderson, in a May 19 letter, noting that according to USDA’s own literature, its 6,000 annual enforcement cases average “a penalty of $333.33 per case, and yet you contend it would be appropriate my client tender a penalty of $90,643.00.”

One Washington lobbyist for the industrial farming sector said the penalty was ludicrous. The rabbit sales “are on the scale of a high school 4-H project,” the source said.

USDA spokesman Sacks said the $90,643 fine “looks curious to say the least.” But he insisted it was necessary for USDA to punish violators to ensure businesses across the country register, putting them on the USDA’s radar screen for inspections and possible enforcement.

“This is the only way we can ensure these animals are getting the care they need,” Sacks said.

Meanwhile, Missouri lawmakers Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and Republican Rep. Billy Long have contacted the Dollarhites, saying they’ll help intervene with USDA. And a Tea Party group is planning a protest at a USDA office in Ozark, Mo., office on Wednesday.

By by selling to pet stores for resale, the humble Dollarhites became “wholesale breeders of pet animals,” said Dave Sacks, a spokesman for USDA who defended the fine, even while admitting it “looks curious” to the average person.

That’s especially so since the Dollarhites face no accusation they mistreated any animals. Instead, they committed what’s called in regulatory parlance a “paperwork violation” under the Animal Welfare Act, a 1966 law intended to prevent the abuse of animals.

dutch Iris

Sometime in years gone by I had put some dutch Iris's bulbs in the ground and this year for the first time among the tall grass up pops one of the blooms.
Sammy's chicks are mostly roosters in all the baby's chicks he has. On the hopeful side he has 5 setting hens and he should get some pullets from those hatches.
Oklahoma had storms in the afternoon late yesterday. some homes blown away and 2 deaths were reported.
Ever afternoon brings more threats on the weather channel of tornadoes and floods, disaster is just around the corner these days with the satellite net searching for the big story. I saw where Obama was in Britain rubbing elbows with the Queen and he sent word that he would be down to see the Oklahoma people soon. The Oklahoma people are transplanted Arkansans for the most part, they sent word don't trouble your self just send money!

Arnold Schwarzenegger

i hate to do it but I find I must defend Arnold Schwarzenegger from all the fools on TV that are so SHOCKED that he has a child with the maid, really he hasn't done something that many men do every day. the way I see it the only thing he has done that was different he has supported the kid and the mother with out a court order. I realize he may have done this to keep it from ruining his career as governor but he has took responsibility and toed the mark.
As for as his wife goes she says she didn't know about this relationship and if this is true she has to be absent with out leave as I see it anyone would have smelled a rat long ago if they cared a hoot!
I don't like this man after all he is a repub and a German to boot but enough is enough.
On the lighter side I saw Bill Maher and he said Arnold had ruined his maid service, he said he walked into the house and his maid through up her hands and said OK, already I will do windows!

We had a late night last evening. Sammy took Janet to work and was to pick her up at 11 o'clock which was her 8 hours. He went and then she called and said she would have to work to 2 O'clock. He fell asleep and I stayed on watch when 12:30 arrived I woke him and told him he better go early just in case. She got off at 1 O'clock and he was there thanks to mom.
Since she found out that all she had to do to keep from working on sunday was sign a paper and she spread the word far and wide I am sure they were punshing her and made her stay 10 hours.
I have some beef short ribs and potatoes in the oven for dinner. I guess I am feeling better. I haven't cooked a meal in weeks.

The Gatlin brothers

Larry Gatlin and his two brothers started sing on stage while they were small boys. In the late 60's 0r early 70's opportunity came knocks for Larry. A major record company offered him a contract which promised to be a major step in their career but they said they only wanted Larry.
Larry Gatlin told them we are a package deal you take all of us if you want me. They decided that they would take the brothers and the Gatlin's went on to make many hit records. Larry knew that Family is important and he was able to stick to his ideals .

"Sweet Beluah Land" By The Gatlin Brothers/Squire Parsons

Frankie Maybee

The two aggressors pursued five Hispanic men who pulled out of a gas station.

The would-be assailants caught up to the men, the story went, and one white male leaned outside of the front passenger window of a truck and waived a tire wrench at the Latinos, threatening and hurling slurs at the victims. The accosting driver rammed into the victims' car repeatedly, causing the car to swerve into the opposite lane of traffic, go off the road, and crash into a tree and ignite.

As a result of the attackers' actions, the victims suffered bodily injuries; one nearly lost his life.

Those were the allegations thrown at the feet of Frankie Maybee, 20, and Sean Popejoy, 19, who were found guilty and convicted of commiting a federal hate crime and conspiring to commit a federal hate crime, the U.S. Justice Department has announced.

Maybee, who drove the vehicle, was convicted on five counts of committing a federal hate crime; Popejoy was convicted on one count of the same crime.
Maybee faces a maximum of 55 years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000 per violation.

“The defendants targeted five men because they were Hispanic, and today’s verdict shows that the Justice Department is committed to vigorously prosecuting individuals who perform acts of hate because of someone’s race or national origin,” said Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.

“We will continue to use the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and every other tool in our law enforcement arsenal, to identify and prosecute hate crimes whenever they occur,” he said.

The case was the first conviction at trial for a violation of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which was enacted in October 2009.

These young men were worthless and the community is well rid of both . A year ago last spring they forced my son to stop on a dirt road and held a gun to his head because he had Maybee's mother and her brother in his car as they were returning from fishing on long creek.

They were both drunk and when My son called the law after the fact nothing was done because the mother lied and covered up her son's actions. My son never went fishing with the two again on my advice but needless to say I am pleased that they will be behind bars for many years.

Robert got to play with his trucks , good. Sammy bought them at the sale at Huntsville and I told Fleta to take them. They are Tonka trucks and might be of some value as collector items but for Robert they are trucks to work with. I did look them over before they went bye bye and the bed is metal which is rare today but the frame was plastic which defeats the purpose I think.

We had a flood again but the world is still turning inspire of the predictions other wise. What is is and what isn't ain't!
Janet has got religion, no not because the world is ending but because Tyson is working Sunday. She found out all she had to do was go to the office and sign a paper saying she wouldn't work Sunday.

My cucumbers may be flooding this morning. I planted them in containers. I did make holes for them to drain but it rained so hard they may not drained enough.

rain and the tribulation

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms. Low around 64. South southeast wind between 5 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

This is going to be another day for ducks I suppose. Rain prediction is 100% My cucumber seeds will get moisture.

I took my nurse out to my garden and let her harvest a salad for supper, She had never seen leaf lettuce growing. I told her how we cooked bacon and poured the hot grease over the lettuce for wilted lettuce. She didn't think she would eat her salad that way.

Helen called she is having a big time with her grandchildren I guess.

There is a fellow predicting the rapture will happen Saturday, I know the Bible says no one will know the hour or the day but if Saturday is the day I am ready.
There are some people who believe the rapture will occur before tribulation and some think that it will be mid way thro the 7 years of sorrow. I am like this Baptist preacher from the corner stone Baptise church in Springfield, Mo. He spent time giving reasons for both views and then said he thought the rapture would occur pre-tribulation. He said My bags are packed and I am getting on the bus when it comes for me. me too, me too! I am out of here when the Lord calls me.

Sammy has worked 2 days to fix an automatic water system for his bantams. I watched and when he was finished I ask him how he would make it work when cold weather got here?

Cucumbers are in the soil. I put some in a white bucket and some in a drawer that was in the yard. My wire was gone, Sam gave it away yesterday. I have to watch him every minute of the day. He gives more stuff away than I can bring in.

NURSE DAY AND THE SORES AROUND MY WOUND IS BETTER, NANCY WILL BE DELIGHTED.
I am going to plant cucumber seed this morning. Sammy bought a bag of miracle grow yesterday and I am going to open the sack on its side and punch a few holes in the bottom and plant the seeds right in the sack. I still have my wire I had over the lettuce to keep the guineas out and will lay a piece over the sack and let the vines come up and grow up thro' the wire.
I only have 6 guineas left and I really don't want any more when these go for hawk food. The fools finally stopped roosting on top of the pen and moved into the walnut tree so maybe the leaves give them some cover while they sleep.

light bulb

I bought some light bulbs so I will have lights after 2012 if I am still alive. I saw brother in the store and told him but he said I didn't know what of what I spoke 'cause he had new kind of bulbs and they were not $50 each. I studied about it and decided Clayton didn't know what he was talking about.
Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.

Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.

The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.

Clayton probably has a china bulb made in India and will be out lawed after 2012.HA.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

LOS ANGELES -- Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has acknowledged that he fathered a child with a member of his household staff, a revelation that apparently prompted wife Maria Shriver to leave the couple's home before they announced their separation last week.

You have to be kidding the kid is 10 years old and she just found out about him or her? Anyone with a lick of sense knows she knew and keep her mouth shut while he was governor.

I saw one head line that read Californians are SHOCKED about love child. I know people in California having lived there once on a time and having relatives living there, take my word for it they are shocked that he could still father a child not that he could perform. guess all those steroids didn't stop the terminator.

I have always thought his movies were trash and now he has proved that he is trash, getting it on with the maid while he was suppose to be doing state duties, really. I suppose the current governor will not have this kind of scandal when he leaves office. It was a rumor for years that Jerry Brown batted from the other side tho I did learn he had married a woman when he reached old age.

It has been what I consider unseasonable cool the last few days and Sammy chicks have been hugging their light. It is 45 degrees at 6 O'Clock in the morning.

Went to the doctor yesterday and got some antibiotics. I have to go back today for them to draw blood. I wish Obama would give me a call about what is wrong with medicare I could give him a ear full.

turn the light down low

Today: Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming northeast between 5 and 10 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45. East wind around 5 mph.
Our government has been slipping laws under the door while we were napping. In 2007 congress passed a law about your light bulb Beginning in 2012 you will no longer be able to buy 100 Watt bulbs and by 2014 the 40 and 60 Watt bulbs will be phased out also. They are to be replaced with a twisty fancy bulb with a cost of 50 dollars each.
A 2007 bill, passed overwhelmingly by both houses of Congress and signed into law by George W. Bush, will make the familiar incandescent bulb subject to strict efficiency standards next year.

The effect will be to make current 100-watt bulbs obsolete — and that has sent conservative lawmakers, libertarians, some environmental activists and owners of Easy-Bake Ovens into a frenzy of activity to get the law repealed or, at least, to stockpile the bulbs before they disappear from store shelves.

I remember the good old days when I worried about how to get the money to pay the light bill soon I will worry about how to get the money to buy the bulb to make the light.

I have a kerosene Lamp that may soon be put to use.

more roosters

Real estate mogul Donald Trump will not be a candidate for president in 2012.

one more rooster has been cooped.

The rooster pen

Today: Sunny, with a high near 67. North northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 39. North northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Sammy has been buying bantams at the sale in sets of 6. I have final figured out the sales strategy. Bantam rooster can be pick out when the chicks are about 3 to 4 weeks old. Someone or several someone are hatching out a lot of bantam eggs when the chicks began to show their rooster traits ,which someone can spot if they are acquainted with chicken, they owners pick 4 roosters and 2 pullets or maybe 5 roosters and 1 pullets and sell them at the sale that way they get rid of useless roosters and keep most of the pullets. That sort of reminds me of the up coming campaign for president in the repub party they need to get rid of a lot of old roosters.

Newt Gingrich

MACON, Ga. — Republican Newt Gingrich told a Georgia audience on Friday evening that the 2012 presidential election is the most consequential since the 1860 race that elected Abraham Lincoln to the White House and was soon followed by the Civil War.

What is Gingrich saying? is he comparing up coming race for president as perhaps of another fight for a new south surely he isn't saying he is a new Lincoln . Do you suppose that this is code for 'The Massa have got to get the nigger out of the white house and back in the cotton field where he belongs?'

A few days past Mr. Gingrich was reporting that the reason he had been known to change wives so many times was his great devotion to his job and his country but since he had finally found the love of his life and was no longer searching for a new bimbo he was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country and become our next great leader. Perhaps what really has put Newt on the straight and narrow in his sex life is someone locked up his Viagra.

Newt will soon learn that fat ole men don't get very far in the political field these days any more than they do chasing wild women. He says he has gave up the one and will soon see he has to give up the second.

I saw a report that he wants Constance L. “Connie” Rice for his vice running mate. I don't think so Newt. Why would she want to settle for seconds when she has been to the Texas white house?

I like this photo of Fleta's grandchildren running down the road near the home where I grew up along with my brothers and sister. It speaks to me of old times and days with out cares and problems.
It is unseasonable cool again this morning with the the temperature hovering around 44 degrees.
Tomorrow is the 16 of May on this date Mama and Daddy married in 1937.

He Washed My Eyes With Tears

Jimmy Swaggard before his troubles.

old barns

Rain and dreary weather yesterday. I hope the sun shines today.
We are sick , Janet has coughing and aching muscles and now i have some of the same problems, not much coughing but fever and pain in my joints and over all feeling bad. I feel so bad most of the time I am not sure when I am sick.
Sammy is going to the sale again today. I guess more roosters are in his life.
Helen took the photo I think some where. I love old barn photos.

sister fix it

One thing sister got me was a new key board, Fleta and Helen were appalled at my key board neither could use it and they have both been trained as typist. The keys on my old board some were wore off, I thought they all did that but they said they had never seen that before. All my key boards have done that on all 3 of my computers. I guess I just wear them out.

I also have sound again. I enjoy the YouTube and the gospel sings now that I have broad band. some how mine had been unhooked but I can have music again now thanks to sister.

sister is going to kansas

Sister is gone, she is going to Kansas to see a Friend she has know for years. She brought me some good gifts including a good camera which she thought was broke when she discovered it wasn't she refused to let me have it.
