my life and times I have decided that a blog is like having your own soap box. now how many people out there know what that expression means? I will tell you! In the days before tv and mass news media people would meet in town on saturday and visit and buy what ever thier need were for the week or perhaps for a month. most town had a square which today might be called a park, people would gather in the square to visit and learn what the news was. In that day everyone made lye soap and because they didn't have card board boxes everwhere like now. they made a wood box, it would be 6 inches high and about 2 foot by 2 foot and they poured thier lye soap in the box to set before using it, some people would bring a soap box to town and put it on the ground up side down and get on the box to talk .The people would gather around to listen to what ever the guy on the soap box had to say.This will be my soap box when I have an ax to grind. Have you ever made lye soap? I have made it and used it. Do you remember Andy Griffith singing the song "Grandma"s lye soap"?
