my life and timesMy paternal grandmother was born before
1900, live all her life in Carroll Co. Ark.Grandma saved everything. Every bag, all the Quaker oat boxes, everything went into what we called a cubby hole built under the stairs in the kitchen. Folded and stacked to be saved until they were needed. Over the years the cubby hole was stacked full. When grandpa died in July 1954, my aunts who were living in the city decided to clean out the cubby hole while grandma was away for a few hours. they burned everything in the cubby hole. When grandma came home she was very upset. All that good stuff gone for ever. Grandma lived until 1974 so she had time to save a lot more stuff. I am like her , when I die my children will have to make several trips to the dump to get rid of all my good stuff!
