Bantamns

The bantam chicken is my favorite breed of chicken, they can live on next to nothing, produce eggs and make the best mothers. There is all colors and breeds but they all have short legs and small bodies.
I have read on this subject and found that the banty was developed by the peasant class in Europe. The land holders would take from the peasant any thing that was produced on his land, The workers of the land found that the mighty land lord thought the small chickens were too small to eat and their eggs were so small as not worth the bother. There fore the workers of the land breed the chickens to be small to feed their families.
As in all thing there are exceptions, The seibright breed of bantamns was developed by a Lord in England. His name was Seibright and of course this breed carries his name.
