This is a picture Of the square in our town.
The winter months are so drab that most of us are depressed in the winter, our town was build in the middle of a large forest in the beginning, hence the name Green Forest. History tells us that at the beginning there was a trading post on this site. This is the square where brother started to unload the dead turkeys.
state highway 62 is just to the left of this picture. Most of the business have built along the highway and the building around the square are a bank, a hard ware store, two bars, one second hand store, a insurance business, One Mexican grocery store and empty building. There is a modern Library, Our Liberace are free due to a rich man named Carnegy who left his money to build library across our nation.

Libraries are great. i have finished my stack of books and will go again today.
Read one about Damien and the Leprosycolony in Hawaii. Read Missionaries to the Cherokees. Read, one about Sam Hildebrand, two bios...Addie and I Remember, I remember. And a book about Black
Aristrocy in the South.
Now, about Green Forest...no forest..they wanted to name if Grand or Green Prairie and there was already a town named that so they chose Forest. Where the town sits there was a grassland prairie..
Sweet Sister
i have read that account but have also read that in the beganning it was locatited in a large forest or at least that trading post was, now that is only logitical if you consider that all the ozarks had trees all over them.so how could have this one spot that was with out trees? it was with out trees after the settlers cleared them all off.
