holloyhocks

My hollyhocks are starting to bloom. I had a lot of them at my home before I moved here and have being trying for 6 years to get them started here. I have 5 stalks now. Posted by Picasa

Ihad hollyhocks in my yard in the
house before this one. Granny Renfroe gave them to me. They were not annuals but could come back from seed ...I guess....I put cow manure on them and man they did really well...try some of that horse manure in pasture next to you.

Thanks for sharing the photo of your hollyhocks. I haven't even thought of hollyhocks for years, but my grandma had them in her backyard (the house where I grew up) every summer. This pic took me back in time and planted my young feet squarely in front of Mammaw's hollyhocks, where I could see all of her other flowers and the grapevine, then turn around and see Packy working in his vegetable garden. I had a lovely mental visit. Thanks.

I have a few hollyhocks but I have never seen that wonderful deep colour. Do you save your seeds from them?

You are far ahead of us over there. My couple of hollyhocks are nowhere near flowering yet.
