fleta and I went ancestor hunting in Lancaster MO. And we notice a quilt show. We had nothing to do a the moment so we went in and looked around.
A woman about 75 years of age was setting in the room, seems the lady had made some beautiful quilts in her long life. As a way to honor their mother her children had rented a store and hung over 100 of their mother quilts.
She hand pieced and quilted all the quilts in the large room. I searched for some pictures of her quilts and found this one.
Everyone was presented to the lady and she was told where they lived. When she found that we were from Arkansas, she was very proud to show us her quilts. I think she thought we had made the trip just to see her work. They were a work of art.

My goodness , 100 quilts - I wonder how many hours of her life have been spent making them - and what a wonderful and original suprise for her.
Beautiful - Thanks P
I'd love to have seen that show. There is something about quilts made for other people that is better than those made for competitions.More feeling in a way!
