Three years ago my daughter decided she wanted to go see my sister in Phoenix Arizona. We are Arkansas hilly billys and never been any father from home than Springfield MO.
My sister bought the tickets on line with my daughter's credit card. Sister said we would change planes in route. Guess where? Dallas Fort Worth!
I had never imagined such a place as that airport. First we drove to Tulsa Ok. And boarded at that airport. This seemed to be a large place for us to be but little did I know what lay ahead. We had to have our bags searched and I take a lot of medicine. I had all of it crammed in my purse along with everything I could get in there. We put our purses on this track and walked thro to the other side. My daughters purse went thro fine but This guy said who owns this red purse? I owned up to it being mine and he said we have to search your purse. Why? I said. He said frankly you have so much in it we can't xray it. I knew that was not true.
I realized right away he was looking at my meds.Guess he had me mixed up with Rush Limbrough. He clears us and we were able to get on the flight to DALLAS FORT WORTH.
When we start to get off the plane the stewardess said to me, madam, you only have 30 minutes to get over to C 24 and we are letting you out at A 2. This is a long distance so I will put you in a wheel chair and someone will help you.
Now I am from Arkansas but I have always been a quick study. I said ok, I told my daughter when we get off this plane you stick close to me.
Just as the door opened I took a 5 dollar bill and carried it in my hand the 5 showing. There were people in wheel chairs besides me but the men standing waiting all came to me, saying I'll take her, no I take her!
So I gave the wheel chair pusher my 5 dollars and he flagged down a truck that they used to haul old people around. He said take this lady to gate C24, the driver said I'll pick her up on my way back. The wheel chair pusher said NO! Take her now. I crawled out of the chair and got aboard the truck and then said Oh, I can't go with out my daughter so they told Janet to get on too. Well we made it and got to phoenix where my sister was waiting at the gate. Tomorrow I will tell you about coming back. A hint is more 5 dollars bills were involved!
I will say this I wouldn't go back to the Dallas Fort Worth air port even if they were giving free tickets.

You ARE a quick study - and a generous one too, with your five dollar bill. I'm looking forward to reading "the rest of the story".
Dallas-Ft. Worth has a great appeal for the young. I remember lots of 20 year old Arkansas kids moving there after high school, going to the city where jobs were plentiful and there was lots of socializing opportunities.
I've been through that airport a few times and it still confuses me.
