as my sister says it a rooster, but that is ok, I value the roosters as much as the pullets in these hatchery chickens. Perhaps next spring I can select some roosters and hens , pairing them off and grow my own fancy breeds since I had so much trouble raiseing these chicks.
When the chick is raised with the mother hen they grow better and you have less loss.
The 3 hatchs I had this year with the mothers have all survived and The way you usually lose them is preditors.
The mother hen will fight to the death for her chicks so some times you lose the mother and still have the young.
