I went to our local supper market this morning shopping. This post is for my family member who might buy their food there but it might be of use to some of my other readers also.
The name of our market, you know the pictures you see of angels playing a musical instrument? Well our market has the same name.
I long for the days when the clerk would call out the prices and Manuel ring up the items.
Now we have these scanners that the clerk moves the item across and the price is rang up. I always watch the screen to see if they are charging me the listed price.
About 2 months ago our market installed new cash registers and the screen is small plus they keep the screen turned away from the customer.
I have been in continuing running battle with the clerks refusing to turn the screen toward me so I can see the prices fact is I told them the last time I was there I was going to start shopping at wal-mart where I was allowed to see the prices.
Today I went back and I guess they know that I am going to make trouble because they had the screen turned facing me. The screen is so small that I have to lean over belt to see the screen and then I have a hard time .
The clerk was ringing up my purchases and she rang up 4 cans of biscuits, yes I do buy canned biscuit's some times. Low and behold here comes biscuit's 4 for 1 dollar. And right below that pop up this item "hog rolled sausage 6 dollars"! The clerk has not scanned any item. It just appeared.
I ask her about this and she said we are having problems with our computers, and she took the item off.
I didn't bother telling the child that I knew that computers are programmed to do certain things and someone had to program them to do that .
I think what was going on is I had bought a sale item and when I did the computer was programmed to rang up a extra item which I did not buy. So beware and watch you purchases if you shop at our local supermarket. You may have a surprise in store for you and it want be angles singing.

I check my ticket each time I buy groceries. Unless I have one of those lapses and forget. I would say have over half the time something is wrong. Usually it is an overcharge. I don't think in my case it is on purpose but it always is more than I was supposed to pay or charged for more items than I bought.
I am glad you are checking yours. I always say in a sweet voice....I guess I get this free for have mischarged me.
Walmart is the worse...you have to leave the checker walk about a mile to the return station and get our 12 cents or whatever...usually it is not really worth it.
The last time I went in there the cashier was ringing up my groceries and the milke would not scan she asked me how much it cost and I said I think it is 2.29 she slammed in on her counter and slowly walked back to the milk section. She can back and put in 2.29 she acted like she was mad but she is like me could use the exercise. When she got all my things rung up I stood there and she did not tell me my total so I too looked at the little screen and gave her the cash. She had to give me some change back but she did not count it to me. I stood there and I guess the Powell blood was coming out my ears because the manager followed my outside and asked if I was upset and I said that was the most unfriendly cashier I had ever seen and I would not be back to her and it might be a while before I was back to see him also. He apoloized to me about her and made her run out and apoloize also. I have not seen her since that was 3 weeks ago.
you know this happened to me too, and the cahier seemed surprised I had checked, but it came to more than I was expecting
SS#3 you think about the thousands of customers wal-mart & the likes has in a day...times 12 cents!!! 1000 X .12= ONE-HUNDRED-AND-TWELVE DIFFERENT DOLLAR BILLS!!! Give me my TWELVE CENTS!! CROOKS!! Patsy you are a smart woman to watch them like you do! Yeah .12 cents aint worth it sometimes for our time & trouble but if we all thought about it like that & what we ARE just giving them! HUH! I'm gonna start watching my ticket better. I do good for a while & then I slack off!!SS#3 if we go shopping together I will get your .12 cents for you...you are a sweet lady.
