IN THE 80'S MY SISTERS AND I DID FAMILY RESEARCH ON OUR FATHERS FAMILY. WE MEET MANY COUSINS THRO THE MAIL.fLETA AND I DECIDED THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO MEET SOME OF THESE PEOPLE. THE ANSWER WAS A FAMILY REUNION, MOST OF THESE PEOPLE WERE WILL INTO THEIR EIGHTY. WE INVITED THEM AS WELL AS OUR FAMILY ALSO EVERYONE IN OUR AREA THAT WOULD COME.
WE DON'T LIKE TO LEAVE HOME PLUS IF WE RENTED A HALL IN TOWN THAT WOULD COST MONEY SO I SAID LETS HAVE OUR REUNION IN THE HOUSE WHERE WE GREW UP. MAMA AND DADDY WERE GONE, DEAD I MEAN AND MY BROTHER CLAYTON LIVES IN THE HOUSE.
WHEN WE DISCOVERED THAT A LOT OF THE DISTANT COUSINS WERE COMING WE TOLD CLAYTON WE WERE GOING TO HAVE THE REUNION AT HIS HOUSE. CLAYTON SAID FINE AFTER ALL CLAYTON LOVES ALL OF HIS FAMILY.
AS AN AFTER THOUGHT WE MENTIONED THAT ALL THESE 4TH AND 5TH COUSINS WERE COMING ALSO. CLAYTON WAS IN SHOCK.HE DIDN'T KNOW ANY OF THESE PEOPLE.
THEY CAME FROM NORTHERN MO. AS WELL AS TEXAS. ME AND MY SISTERS HAD A GREAT TIME AND CLAYTON HAD TO FEED ALL OF US.
I TOLD CLAYTON THAT SOME OF THESE PEOPLE WERE OLD AND PERHAPS HE SHOULD PUT UP A TENT IN THE YARD FOR SHADE. CLAYTON SAID BY GOD I AM NOT GOING TO RUN A FIRST AID STATION IN MY YARD! THE THREE SISTER HAD A GREAT TIME VISITING AND LOOKING AT ALL THE COUSIN'S FAMILY RECORDS. AFTER THE REUNION WAS OVER AND EVERONE WENT HOME WE DID ALSO AND LEFT CLAYTON TO CLEAN UP THE MESS.

Act. Brother Clayton is Brother Dear as he is always there to bail us out!! He adds a little griping but still he loves us and we adore him!
Pat as I remember it was a little worse than you made it sound...Fleta sent out invites to all of these people ...was it about 100 or more...on these invites she put directions to Claytons house and said food would be provided....only after she received several responses back did she bother to TELL Clayton that they were all coming to his house and he needed to feed them. As I remember none of us girls helped with the food....I mean I don't think we made even 1 thing and I know we did not chip in with any money.
Remember Betty talking to the ONE woman....and after she left when she would speak of her how she would bend her arm....and she was not even trying to be mean....

Helen...remember the old woman with only one arm...she loved us to death. We helped her prove her
line to join the DAR which was her life's wish...she has sinced passed on. She even sent me gifts.

She liked you because she did not see after she was gone you kept talking about her and calling her that lady and making your arm look like a chicken wing! I don't even think you knew her name.
her name was laura lansaw. i remember her name , last time i talked to her about 4 years ago she was bed fast but her children were there taking care of her.
