Oh the joy of modern convinces

For many years I lived in my home with out a water supply, ever drop of water we used had to be trucked in . Many years the children and I hauled water in 10 gallon milk cans. Then we really got a boast in our standard of living my husband acquired a 500 gallon tank for us to bring our water home in.
I still own the home and now it has a 800 foot well. I had this well drilled in 1992 , the year my husband died.
We , my daughter and I , live on a 5 acre plot 3 miles out of green Forest AR. In a trailer and our water is piped to us by the city of Green Forest. This water cost me about 21 dollars a month and I rejoice every time I pay a water bill because for many years I never had that privilege.
At 2 o'clock this morning my daughter woke me out of a sound sleep' saying mom , mom ! Wake up we got water ever where.
I staggered out to the main water line with a flash light and a long handled tool my son made me to shut off the water. Our hot water heater had burst a pipe and it was the pipe that goes into the heater.
I started calling my son Tony at 4 o'clock this morning. He has a cell phone and I knew when he went to work he would see my no. Pop up several times and know I needed him. At 9 o'clock he arrived and we have a new water heater now. Oh the joy of having sons who can fix anything about a car or household appliances. MY sons are my most valuable possessions.

Patsy your kids are such a blessing to you. It is wonderful that they take care of you. Tony took care of Momma too. She would call him when she used wood for heat and he would cut it. She called him when something broke. Tony was a special grandson to both Mom and Dad.

I have city water too. When we moved on Galla Creek we drilled a well. I could run it dry washing 2 loads of clothes. I had to wash a load each evening.

When city water was coming this way. You had to pay $210 to sign up. I paid and I needed the others to sign up. Uncle Cecil (Larry's fathers brother) would not as he said it was too expensive. I knew the man who was getting the signatures. We let them run the water down our side of the road where we own a quarter of mile frontage and they ran the water to us. Uncle Cecil would have trouble with his well...and I would chuckle.

Patsy, there's a television show I used to watch, entitled "The Red Green Show". The guy (Red Green) used to say, "If the women don't find you handsome, they can at least find you handy." I always thought that was the absolute truth. There's nothing to compare to having a handyman around.

And thanks goodness for your alert daughter too. She saw what was going on early on. And then, you with the long handled water-turn-off tool - well, what more can be said than BRAVO!
