Bicycles

A blog I Read that is posted by a Guatemalan ask the question, Who rides bicyles in our area? The truth as I see it very few people ride bicycles here. This is a photo of my neighbors yard. There were two bikes scattered over the yard that I couldn't get in the picture.
There are 8 children in that household at this time and they all have bikes but they never ride them.
The Hispanic males ride bikes when they first come to our area, I never see Hispanic females riding bikes. They either walk or ride in a car.
As soon as the Hispanics can they buy a car. Our winters are very cold and it is a bad experience to ride a bike in zero weather with the wind blowing around your ears.

We have quite a few serious bike riders around here, spandex pants and helmets, etc. Other than those people, my first thought when I spot adult bike riders is uh-oh, somebody got a DWI.

People don't seem to ride bikes like they used to. I remember as a child growing up, EVERYONE rode their bikes, that's how you spent your day, riding here and there.

In west Little Rock, it's so hilly that only serious bicyclists take to the roadways. But for people who love to bike for fun or to work, the trails that have been/are being opened will allow them to travel along and across the river, from east to west and south to north, without being hindered by auto traffic.
