Cochins

Next spring I am going to put these chicks in a pen by them selves and make a effort to raise some cochin chicks.
The white rooster and the yellow hen and the white hen should make for a interesting hatch. I have read that I will have to trim the vent feather from the chickens to get a successful hatch so I am going to get a pair if scissors and do some barbering in Feb..

I can just see you moving in with scissors in hand, the chickens looking at you with their wary eyes.

I'm sorry Patsy that you've had a bad day and I hope tomorrow is a better one.

That is marvellous!! I hope you blog pics about your barbering skills in Feb 07 :)
I got your comment on my blog there, I agree, and that is what I meant too...we are ate up by wolves in sheep clothing where our leaders are concerned....true it is.
But, I am a nurse and a mum of 4 kids, not at all politicaly minded :)

Love your chicken photos. Reminds me, have you read "The Egg and I" by Betty Macdonald? It's an old book, but pretty funny - fiction all about chicken farming.
