I have two old english game bantam hens and a rooster. last night after I went to bed I was thinking I might put the two hens and the rooster in a pen by themselves this spring and try to raise some chicks from them.
This morning when I went out to feed one of the little hens was out side the pen. A dog or cat had pulled the chicken wire up and tried to get in the pen last night. the pen keeps them out but the hen was small enough to crawl out of the wire. I chased the little thing and managed to catch her and fixed the excape route but that just to show how a persons plans can come to nothing.

I just have to say it . . . don't count your chickens before they hatch.
LOL still laughing at what Annie said! When chickens get out of their pen, do they pretty much stick around or have you ever lost one?
