I bought my first bantams 3 years ago this last july. I bought them from a local person that lived off the beaten path and let them free range. This is the best way to have chickens but because of all the dogs in our area I have to keep them pened. Until yesterday I had 7 of the first bantams. I bought them for 3.50 each. Yesterday I found the only yellow bantam i had dead in the chicken house.
I read where some chickens live to a very old age but this has never been the way in my life. I will miss the little hen. I am sure that I have some of her off springs in my pen now.
I had been able to sex the rocks and had 7 roosters in a pen by them selves and I gave the roosters to a lady that is from Mexico who came and picked them up friday so my chicken flock is some what smaller today. The lady is from Mexico but lives here now.
My sons alway say I should sell them but I don't want to be bothered trying to sell poultry.

I 'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to get attached to their chickens! Sorry Patsy
Hi Patsy,
That must have been a sad moment, when you went out to the hen house and found your banty dead. That's one of the downsides of getting attached to another creature, isn't it. Annie
So sorry to hear about your little hen, I bet you gave her a really happy life.
