Chicken Tractor

I have been planning for spring and the Pekin bantams. I am going to have a job for son the next time he pays me a visit.
I found this picture of a chicken tractor on the net. A chicken tractor is a movable pen light enough that a old woman can move it around.
I have a lot of scrap lumber that I have saved from several building projects and I want to have son build this pen. I will put my pekin bantams in this and try to raise me some babies in April or may.
When the chickens eat all the grass I will move the pen over and have new ground for them to graze on. Hopefully this will be large enough for my Pekin rooster and the 2 hens. I think I can build a nest by placing a rubber tote in the pen with hay for nesting material.
Winter days are good for dreaming.

Winter is a good time for dreaming, I agree Patsy. Some look through gardeninig catalogues, some at chicken pens and some just close their eyes and hibernate by the fire. These are some of the joys of wintertime.

I think this will work well for you. Maybe some wheels to move it around...I like it. the wooden one will be easiest to build..I think.

The wooden one above we call an Ark over here - they are very popular, and usually have wheels or handles on each end so that they can be lifted.

I might breed some too - that is my dream anyway.
