This is a photo I saw in the Harrison paper. This is a kerosene stove like mother cooked on when we live at Denver and when we first moved to the farm on dry creek.there is pipe that runs under the burners that brought the kerosene to the wicks in the burners.
that pipe had to be cleaned once in awhile. Mother did this with a strong stiff wire and a cloth that was tied in a hook on the wire.
Mother was always losing the cloth and daddy would have to fish it out. The last time it was so stopped up dad couldn't get it out so he bought the first propane stove mother ever had.

There is just something very comforting about those old stoves. I kinda wish I had an old cook stove set up to use...but not to depend on!
I think it would be kinda scary to have to cook on one of those. I'm not even crazy about propane, either.
