This house is off the road I travel to where I live. 4 years ago a mother, father and son lived in this home.
The mother was employed at a small publishing house here in our area. The father and the son worked at wal-marts at Berryville. I didn't know them . I had as far as I know never seen any of the family.
the son was 20 years old and was know as slow mentally. One morning the son called his uncle at Fayetville, Ar. and told him mama is in the bed and wont wake up and daddy is laying in the yard. The uncle said call the sheriff. he did as his uncle told him and by 6 o'clock they had arrested the son for murder. We had a newly elected sheriff at that moment in time.
For 1 year the son was in the county jail. The law said there was a suicide note in the father's hand and a 22 rifle near the body. They maintained that the boy had written the note. It said "I am sorry i could not go on take care of Joe." the law said the hand writing was so poor that the mental handicapped son wrote the note.
In a years time they brought the son to trial and a lawyer brought samples of the fathers writing and a hand writing expert said the father wrote the note. The jury let the boy go after our neighbor who knew the son said there was no way that simple child did the murders.
Next time election came around we had a new sheriff. I suppose the son lives in the house alone now.

Sad story.
Such an awful tragedy and really makes you think twice about the justice system!
That's a "rush to judgement" story, or should I say I rush to poor judgement story. I hope the son is doing okay after that ordeal.
A parent's wish is for the best for their child. I can not understand a father who would abandon his child...even choosing death! Weird people are out there.
Thankfully he didn't get convicted of it finally. Lots do get wrongfully convicted though....what a devastating thing to happen to someone!
