I had 5 babies under the red hen when I moved her .5 black ,one chipmunk and one red.
If any more hatch out over night under the hen I left I will move them under the hen that has the 5.
The Rhode Island red hens seem really quiet and not nervous at all.
On some of the chicken sights people write about holding their chickens and even kissing them. not me but if you wanted to do that sort of thing the Rhode island red chicken would be the chicken to have .It is 7 o'clock and the temp. is 41 degrees. I love it.
I bought propane yesterday it was 2 dollars and 21 cent a gallon. In 2005 I gave 95 cents a gallon and 2006 it was 1 dollar and 25 cents, I can't imagine how people are going to stay warm if it gets higher.
My neighbor has run a stove pipe out his window and is burning wood but if everybody does that there wont be any trees left. There are not many now.
