chickens

Sister in Arizona says I ordered my chicks to early but she doesn't know I told the hatchery I wanted them to be delivered on April 30. I will have to cull some chickens this fall and I am going to sell my pekins this fall. They are pretty but they don't lay very many eggs.
I want to keep a few of my small bantams and the 6 Rhode Island bantams but if they don't start laying more eggs they might go also.
This photo is what my chick pen will look like this fall. This chicken lays brown eggs and lays a large egg about every day. Sister 3 says she will take some of the hens if the cat doesn't get them first.
The house was so warm last night I thought I was going to have to turn on my air but I opened a window any was able to cool my room so I could sleep. It is 6:15 and still warm in the house but the window is shut now.
My Easter lilies are about ready to start blooming and the tulips are up. Spring is near I have been planning how I can set up my small wire pen to stop the cats and my plan is to set the wire pen inside one of my chickens pens and raise them under a light inside the big pen I don't want any more cats feeding on my chicks. I have enough fences to fence my yard if I can get my sons to drive some post and put up the fence. I want to get it up to keep out the neighbor hood dogs. I have 3 hens on eggs now that will hatch by the last of the month.
Sister said she got 18 eggs yesterday. I am only getting 6 or 7 a day. The only hens I have that are laying are the little black bantam hens. The pekin hens are setting or just not laying and the Rhode Island Red just are eating and enjoying life.
The spell checker is not working again.

I think what would be perfect is this hen crossed with our bb red rooster...I really liek the way they look. I like red chickens. I love brown eggs. I can't wait...I will contribute to the cost.

If you fenced the yard in order to keep out dogs SOMEONE would have to open and close a gate every time they drove in and out.....do you see this happening???? You need to re think that one....
