Newly weds

Mom and daddy on their wedding day along with Rex and Alverta Robertson who were married the same day.
In the 50's Rex had a store at Denver Arkansas and as was the custom for grocery owners in that day he made a trip to Springfield to buy his supplies. It was October and a cold rain fell that day. Alverta had a young baby and she build a fire in the wood heating stove in room where the baby slept. Rex had buried his extra money in the ashes in the stove failing to mention this to his wife. When he returned all he had was ashes. He should have trusted his wife. Daddy never had secrects from mama but he didn't have money to burn either.

What a hard story. I can only imagine the horror for both of them when they learned the money had been burned.

But it's a lovely photo of two happy couple on a very special day. The women seem to have similar purses and the men similar hats. Quite a nice effect for the photo.

I like the tilt of Daddy's hate and the pretty powder blue dress he bought for her to wear instead of the dark brown one she had sneaked from the house at Denver. They went with the Robertson's because he had a car...Dad was a man on horseback!
