I visit Oldmanlincoln every day he has the most lovely bird photos. The other day he posted a red wing black bird and I remembered when I was a child we would see large flocks of these birds flying over. It was a beautiful sight.
I see Blue jays, wren, English sparrows, cardinals, doves. black birds and hawks and buzzards but I never see wing black birds any more. A neighbor down the hill has pigeons and they pay a visit once in a while.
We have had a thunder storm for 3 hours and I wonder if my onions will be on covered when I can go out to see. The temperature is 41 degrees at 6:45. The rain should make the onions and lettuce sprout soon.
I went out to feed the chickens and my fears were realized many of my onion sets were washed out of the ground and was laying below my build up one row garden. I put them back on the row and covered them with some saw dust I had. I think I will go out later and cover the bed with black plastic. Maybe that will keep some of the rain off for a few days because we have lots of rain in the forecast until Monday.
I went out and lay black plastics and a bunch of boards over the onion while I was doing that we had a hale storm so I had to come in. When it stopped haling I went back out and finished covering the bed. Now it is raining again! I can't win for losing.
If any of you want to know what my mother looked like visit Helens blog. That first photo of her is my mama made over.

I'm not good at recognizing birds but those are sure pretty.
I know Abe would love to see a flock of red wings fly over his yard.
