Yesterday at 3 O'Clock my chickens were cackling and I went out to see what was wrong. My chicken gate was open and 6 of my hens were out. The best I can figure is the neighbors children came down and opened the gate. The gate where I had my baby chickens and their 2 mothers was open and all the babies were gone. I lost 2 banty hens and the 6 baby chicks. The boys father came down while I was rounding up the 6 hens that were lose and I ask him about it. He denied knowledge but I am pretty sure he knew what they had done. I told him to tell the boys not to come in my yard again.
On the pulse side I got up at early and bandaged my wound and it not festered yet. I raised 4 children and I know how children are. I suppose the boys really didn't mean to make trouble probably just wanted to look at the chicks and when some of the hens got out they got scared and ran off and hide I know that they had company and probably it was show and tell time!
Life goes on and I am still here. The boys broke up one of my setting hens and the eggs are gone. I hope they took them home to eat.

I am so sorry, Sister. I know this is very upsetting as you love those
birds. Just take care of those you have left.
I'm so sorry about your chicks, Patsy. You took such good care of them, and I hate that this happened.
It is good news about your wound, though. I hope you continue to heal and will send prayers on your behalf.
Sorry about your chicks and happy about your wound. I do wish people would teach their children not to go onto other peoples' property.
Oh no, little rascals! It's all fun and games to them but what they don't seem to realize is all the hard work and money you put into raising these chickens. Hopefully they won't come back in your yard from now on.
I just love the pictures of your tulips and daffodils from a previous post...now that our snow is starting to melt, I noticed that my daffodils are just starting to come up out of the ground! Hardy little buggers, to have been coming up under the snow! lol
Not sure if you read my one post about my finding out I'll become a grandma come October? I'm sooo excited, I've been wanting to be a grandma for ages:-) xox
I am saddened to hear what happened with your chicks - how heartbreaking.
And I agree they probably did not realise the damage they had done and just panicked and ran away. But is does not make it any less painful does it.
Any chance of putting a padlock on it?
I am so thrilled and very relieved that you wound has not festered again. I know it will heal and that you will not have to have an operation.
