This photo made me homesick for a time and place that is long passed away.
The green forest tribune had hired a plane to fly over a Carroll co. farm and take a photo of the home. They would print the photo in the newspaper and the person who called in and identified the farm would get 10 dollars and the farmer would get a photo of his farm
The year was 1954 and my grandfather had died in July of that year. Grandma is standing on the porch looking at the plane as it flew over her home. Grandma Powell won the 10 dollars and got the photo.
You can see where grandpa had parked his car in a two car garage when he never owned two cars at the same time, in fact he only owned two cars in his life time.
You can see grandma's chicken house where she keep her leghorns hens. you can see the barn where they milked cows for years.
I am homesick tonight for that time and place in my history.
