stupid and dumb

WASHINGTON — The House on Tuesday issued an unprecedented apology to black Americans for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow segregation laws.

"Today represents a milestone in our nation's efforts to remedy the ills of our past," said Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich., chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The resolution, passed by voice vote, was the work of Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen, the only white lawmaker to represent a majority black district. Cohen faces a formidable black challenger in a primary face-off next week.

Congress has issued apologies before — to Japanese-Americans for their internment during World War II and to native Hawaiians for the overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom in 1893. In 2005, the Senate apologized for failing to pass anti-lynching laws.

I have to say I think this is dumb. What good does an apology do? This doesn't change what happen to people in the past nor can it do any good to the people living today whose ancestry's were in slavery or were victims of Jim crow laws.

I think this is just another example of congress wasting their time on something of no value to escape dealing with important issues.

My great grandfather 6 generations back owned slaves in Ky. but This has nothing to do with me and besides who would I apologize too.
Steve Cohen who sponsored the bill is just trying to get reelected and surely people are not so dumb as to not see this farce for what it is.

My message to congress is GET OFF YOUR BACK SIDE AND DO SOMETHING WORTH WHILE!

When kids at school do something wrong, and want to say 'I'm sorry',
I always say.....'so?'...what good does an I'm sorry voice really do...no good at all. You must do something to show you are sorry for your actions. When a bad deed is done..it is an ACTION and an action must be completed to really show regret. My two cents. I think this is stupid too.

The story of Obama's ancestors was in the Little Rock paper today. They lived at Dinsmore or Dinsmoor.
