WE always called taking new potatoes from the ground "graveling" after looking on line I found the term grabbling used for graveling. I wondered how this came about so I searched and found the word Gable was and old English word from northern England in 1300 for the word fork.
So I guess our word for taking potatoes out of the ground with a fork came from gable to grabbling to graveling with a fork for potatoes.
I find that words and how they came about interesting.
