working in shifts

I can do very little any more. I sat here dreading going out and feeding, it has been so cold of late but when I got out it was a balmy 52 degrees and I gave the chickens plenty of feed and burned the trash.
I didn't gather the eggs last night because I took a nap and when I awoke it was dark so I had to gather the eggs this morning. I got 4 brown eggs and 2 banty eggs. The brown eggs are so pretty they are a delight to the eyes.
I sat here this morning and considered giving all my chicken away but after I got out I had a renewal of spirit and am glad I have chickens. i am glad the water wasn't froze over. That was one thing I didn't have to do.
I made my pie crust yesterday and it is in the fridge ready to roll out and make pumpkin pies for tomorrow.

Chickens are a reason to get up and do...don't give them away. they need you and you need them.

Are you fixing the whole dinner? We have brunch here around 10:30 - it sure would be nice to have some of your wonderful eggs--they are so expensive in the store. I did, however, get some bacon on sale. The boys love scrambled eggs and bacon. I also made bannana bread.
