the way we live or don't
When the electricity went out we lost all of our meat in our freezers and I realized right soon that most valuable assists I had was my chickens they lay eggs every day and if push had come to shove I could butcher one for a pot of chicken and dumplings.
Our society is living very close to the edge of disaster every day. The gas pumps were not working and the stores were closed if The electric had not come back on many of my neighbors would have faced starvation very soon because they didn't have a supply of foods that could be stored and eaten as time went on.
They have been telling us that we might have a major earth quake in this area some day and on the 2nd day of the black out I told my daughter if we ever were faced with that our life would be in real jeopardy.

Laura says she will come up here...my pantry is always full. I guess it comes from being poor. I have extra of this and that. Over a dozen jars of peanut butter...lots of stuff.
