Story of the land

fleta is calling this land the Myers land but I don't think this land every belonged to the Myers family. if you drive up my grandfather old farm lane the land there on the right hand side is the land Fleta is talking about.

This land belonged to my grandmother, Gertie maples Powell's uncle, Jessie maples. Maples owned 240 acres joining grandpa and grandma Powell's land. Jessie maples had one daughter Mary Jane maples, she married Lon Dillon and they had 3 children that I know about, Grace Dillion Vowell, Jessie Dillon and Joy Dillion. Mary Jane inherited this land at her Mother death. She lived to a ripe old age and on her death the Dillion heires inherited this 240 acres . I think they sold the land to Virgil and Lois Morris and the land was in their position until the last year or so. Now I could be wrong but the only way to prove me wrong is for fleta to do a search and see if anyone else owned the land named Myers.
The Myers owned land in the sunny lane area but It was not this 240 acres. The Jessie maples house burned in the '50. I remember Jack Roberson helped fight the fire. Jessie's' widow was still alive at this time as was Mary Jane Maples Dillion. I don't know if they lived on the land after this but I do know Grandpa Powell was dead when the Maples house burned and he died in 1954. Perhaps there was two houses and the old women lived in the other house after the fire.
the land was across the fence from the Hugh Morris place as well as Jack Roberson's land.
I crossed this land when I started school at Sunny Lane and when I came off the maples place I was in sight of the school house.

Virgil bought several parcels of land...could he have bought this from the family?
