I usually raise my chicks under a light in a plastic tote, I have used a box, You need a light to keep the chicks warm. I have an outside brooder which is larger and covered with chicken wire then tin. This is where my 2 week old chicks are now.
I moved them out side after hearing on the TV that someone in Mo. had baby chicks in the house under a light and the light fell into the litter and burned the house. I wasn't long in getting mine out of the house.
We had rain last evening and during the night but the chicks were fine when I went to feed, sung as a bug in their brooder.
Tomorrow is Easter, Donnie came by yesterday and said he had been hauling top soil to place on his garden, that boy is going to grow something yet.
The lettuce is up and I have a good stand. the radishes are up also.
