Dear Senator

Hattie McDaniel

Hattie McDaniel (June 10, 1895 – October 25, 1952) was the first African-American actress to win an Academy Award. She won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role of Mammy in Gone with the Wind (1939).
She was not allowed to attend the opening premiere of gone with the wind in Atlanta!

I am reading "Dear Senator" by Essie Mae Washington-Williams, the daughter of Strom Thurmond.

I have read it and it was interesting. She held the truth for a long, long time.
