hoeing the potato crop

I hoed my tomatoes and beans yesterday and today I got out and hilled up my potatoes. My cucumbers are coming up. No squash yet but probably any day now. I think the potatoes are about ready to bloom. no baby chicks this morning, maybe tomorrow. Clayton called ask if I felt older. I said no, I think you can only feel so old. Betty said she sent me a box for my birthday so SAM was in town I called and told him to go see if I had any mail.

Happy Birthday! The box may take a while. I sent it u s post. I hope you at least like one of the books. I sent the one Jonell sent to me. Thought it was nice of her to think of me. She liked it. I thought it was ok...maybe you will like it.

There's just something about a garden and growing things, whether it's big or little, that makes me want to get up in the mornings and see what has come up and what has grown bigger. I get excited this time of year. And of course, it gets my mind off less pleasant things. Just found out my daughter will have to have 8 weeks of chemo, 12 weeks of another kind of chemo, and then radiation. It's going to be a long haul.
