Gene Reece person of the year

GREEN FOREST -- Two Green Forest residents were honored at the annual Green Forest Chamber of Commerce banquet on Saturday, Sept. 22. Joe B. "Buster" Powell and Gene Reece, both lifelong residents of Green Forest, were recognized for their community support and involvement throughout the years. Powell was presented with the 2012 Hero of the Year Award: "Buster was granted the hero award because he has been a life long community anchor willing to help anyone who is need and has never sought out any recognition for is good deeds," said Chamber President Ross Darby. "He deserved the award." Reece was presented with the 2012 Person of the Year Award: "Reece has an invaluable memory when it comes to community activities, events and sports," said Darby.
