You have to get your head out of the clouds to grow a garden. This morning I have been trying to clean out my chicken house and add the residue to the place where I am going to grow tomatoes.
The allotment Lady who's blog I read ever day cleans her chicken coop ever day. I really hate to let her know how lazy I am but I have had chickens in my coop for a year and six months and this is the first time I have cleaned the manure out of the house.
The manure is mixed with straw that I have put in ever once in a while to cover past sins. This will make a Ideal growing soil when mixed with common Ozark dirt. This is hard work for an old woman like me who has spent years growing fat and addicted to the tobacco weed.
I worked for a hour and got one wheel barrow full. My shovel has a long handle and was very hard for me to work with in the small confining space.
So I have a new plan, I will go back after I rest and use my short handle hoe which I swiped 5 years ago from my Aday brother In law, I will dig the mess loose and wearing a pair of cloth gloves which I borrowed from Tyson foods I will pick up Hand fulls of the stuff and fill my wheel borrow that way.
I want to grow tomatoes, I can buy all the tomatoes we want but the things sold in the market are like card board. Our country had developed all our produce until there is no taste.I sent away and bought hierloom tomato seed and have the plants in a dish pan growing in the sun shine coming in my window.
I bought Arkansas traveler tomato seeds ,I also bought some seeds called big red that was grown by a family in Illinois for generations and then one packet of seeds called Druzba , Which is supposed to be from Bulgaria I bought the seeds because over the last few years even the plants that we buy are also not fit to eat. I want a tomato that has a bite to the taste, If all tomatoes are bland and tastesless why bother eating them just eat card board!
I have about 40 plants growing and 6 or 7 would be enough for me. I thought my sister and brother might take a few and trying growing them also.It is a nice spring day here and this is a good day to dream about picking a nice red tomato and setting in the sun and eat the product of my labor.

oh, dear, Allotment lady. I don't clean my chicken pen unless I need manure for tomatoes.
