THE BITTER WEED
There grows in our country a weed that will grow in hot dry weather when all other plants fold their leaves and die. We call it the bitter weed. You might see large meadows covered by this weed and think oh how pretty. Cattle will eat this weed if nothing else is avilable. The milk from cows feeding on bitter weed is so bitter you can not drink it.
If you get this weed on your hand you will have the bitter taste on your hands if you get them near your mouth. I also think this weed thrives on poor soil.

Erin, was asking me what Bitterweed
looks like..I hope she looks here.
Oh I remember that awful stuff! I spent long summers as a kid pulling it up in the pastures with my brother and sister and how you couldn't get the bitter taste off your hands. We also had to walk along behind my father's flatbed truck and throw the rocks up on it that came up out of the soil every spring. Our summer vacation was not like what most kids have now!
