Brush cutter

This is a picture of my father in his prime, he is the smiling fellow in the middle. One day daddy decided to go cut brush from his fields. He said he sharpened his ax and went to work.
Soon he struck a mighty blow to a small bush and his ax bounced off and went into the top of his leather work shoe. He could feel the blood pouring from his foot and he dared not remove the shoe because he feared he would pass out.
He made his way to the house feeling blood squishing between his toes with ever step.
finally he reached the house and undid the laces on his shoe and gently remove the shoe fearing that he would leave some of his foot in the shoe, he told me that the ax had passed between his toes and the only damage he had was his new shoes. Posted by Picasa

That's a great story, he looks like he was a happy man!

he was a very happy person. He always tried to look to the bright side of things. I wish I were more
like that...I always think the worse will happen and it usually
does.

I really think Daddy was the happiest of the 3 men. I do not remember Daddy looking at the bright side of things or always thinking the best of all people. I remember him as what I call realists "there are a lot of bad things that happen and a lot of bad people watch out for both." I think some of my Sisters also think things through and try to prepare for the worst that could possible happen and I think we got that trait from my Father. I remember him telling me several times,” If you think someone has done something bad they probably have." I do think this is very true. Although I am not as Old as my sisters I have found in life that if I have a feeling someone may have done a certain deed when all is done and over with I found out they actually had done this deed. I do not think this is a bad trait to have. It had helped me deal appropriately with many problems that have come up in my life. I think our Daddy worried about EVERYTHING all of the time and only his faith in God enabled him to have any piece of mind at all.
