The Allotment Lady commented that we seemed to have ideal life on the farm when we were children. There were times it seems to me when we needed material things that we never had but one thing we did have we never had to worry or fret about what might be because we knew that no matter what happened that our father stood between us and the rest of the world.
WE knew that what ever the problem daddy would take care of us and I know that many children did not have that feeling of security. We knew that daddy was capable of taking on all matter of trouble and we didn't have to worry about anything that might come our way.

Yes, we all need a champion. I'm glad you had one.
It's where I drank my first beer
It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't just for high achievers
I've come to know there's life at both ends
Of that red dirt road.
Chorus of a song by Brooks & Dunn
I didn't ever pick many black berries and I don't like Black berry cobbler. Probably why I did not pick many.
I remember Daddy always telling me it was my job to go to school and do good and his job to do all of the worrying.
i don't like blackberry anything
Your daddy's strength of character lives on in the way you and your sisters talk about him. It's obvious he was a fine, fine man. I really liked today's photos and entries.
Boy, remember how that red clay
just stuck to our shoes and
stained everything. I did not
realize that clay was such rich
soil...it is but it needs sand
or something so it will not cake.
i know that red dirt road was
bad for white keds tennis shoes
that were in style in the 60s.
Boy did I ride down that red road a few times, I really appreciate the pictures. I didn't pick many blackberries because the chiggers just ate me up - but did I ever enjoy eating the cobblers - still haven't tasted one like Grandma's since I was young.
I still eat blackberry jam and love it the best.
I'm so glad to begin to understand your daddy - My Uncle Willis - you all are certainly shedding new light on his strength.
