The Lane

This picture is a picture of the Lane to my grand parents house. This picture is on my cousins site,it made me think of a story about grandma and grandpa Powell so I stole her picture.
My grandparents attended Sunday school at Sunny Lane where grandpa taught the classes.
One day when I went to their house grandma was laughing and she told me this story.
My grandparents were getting ready to go to Sunday school and as was their custom they started out to their garage where the old blue ford was always parked.
Then grandma remembered she had forgot her black purse, which she went back to get.
When she got to the porch with her purse grandpa was driving down the lane with out grandma.
She said she just stood there and waited knowing that he would miss her and come back for her.
Grandpa got to the end of the lane talking to grandma all the way. He said he finally looked over to see why she wasn't answering him.
Grandma said all at once grandpa opened his car door and started to back up searching the ditch with his eyes looking for grandma. He thought she had fell from the car and was laying in the ditch some where.
Grandma said when she saw him leaving"I just stood on the porch and waited, I knew pop would be back."
That is the kind of faith you have in your husband after 35 years of marriage.
Grandpa always said he taught Sunday school but I think he preached because he stood at the front of the building for about 30 minutes and talked non stop and no one else ever said a word. What do you think? Posted by Picasa
