The oak trees

The oak trees in our area are dyeing, this started about 10 years ago. This tree was fine last summer and now it is dead. The oak trees shelter feed, and provide homes for our wild life, when harvested they provide lumber for our houses, many Ozark families have been warmed in the winter by the oak fire wood harvested from our country side.
They cover our hills and keep the soil from going into our creeks. They are a thing of beauty but I fear that they will be a memory in our land someday.
Several years ago we lost the Elm trees to blight and the mighty chickypin went also if we lost our oaks what will be left except the cedar scrub. Posted by Picasa

I was really sorry to hear about the oak trees dying. I spent a lot of time as a kid climbing around in huge oaks when we lived in Prairie Grove. It's hard to think they might not still be up there on that mountain.
