ole Conoral

This is my grandparents,My brother Clayton and brother Richard , winnie Jo and the best dog we ever owned. Ole Conoral was the smartest dog I ever saw. Our milk cows were named and dad would say, "go get ole Brownie." and the dog would go out and bring that cow by her self from the field.
A neighbor, Jack Robertson traded daddy a good team of horses and a lot of other stuff for that dog. it really was a big price for a dog but we all cried.
When grandpa found out about the trade he said"YOU WILL TRADE OFF HAZEL AND THE KIDS NEXT."
grandpa was not happy about the trade and daddy was sad but we needed the money.
The boys are wearing new straw hats daddy bought them and I was jealouse because I didn't get a hat too. Posted by Picasa

There are lots of wonderful stories about "the smartest dog that ever was" and now here is the story about Ole Conoral. This is a loving tribute to a dog, to some parents and to some times gone by.

We had some great dogs after this.
I don't remember him; but do remember that in Daddy's eyes no
animal ever measured up to him.

I think Grandpa Powell's dog was called Jack...was he Patsy...you know I could not remember him, but I remember Daddy talking about him.
No, that was Floyd and Lovetta's dog, wasn't it? We were scared to death of him.
