passion fruit and flower

 
Passion flowers grow wild in the Ozarks. They grow on a vine and can be seen winding among the branch of trees along the roads in the Ozarks. Posted by Picasa

Someone once showed me something rather wonderful about those flowers. The five little "propellor blades" can be spun completely round (carefully). My question is....how did that grow like that....what "feeds" the blade bit to keep it living? Isn't creation wonderful?
