Andrew Carnegie (November 25, 1835 to August 11, 1919) was a Scottish-born American businessman, a major philanthropist, and the founder of the Carnegie Steel Company which later became U.S. Steel. He is known for having, later in his life, given away most of his riches to fund the establishment of many libraries, schools, and universities in Scotland, America and worldwide.
This is a picture of our library which I visited yesterday. I always think of Andrew Carnegie when I visit our library I Have read in the librariess most of my adult life and I thank Carnegie for his great gift to me.Read about his life here.

one grand. At one time, I had read
nearly every book there. Daddy worked at the Mill. I could go after school...stay until 5 and catch a ride home with Daddy. He loved it and I did too. I came home
with a "arm-load" of books each time.
I am reading the Big Bam...story of Babe Ruth. I got it at my local Library!
I have purchased far too many books in my lifetime (but do donate when finished), and I've returned to libraries recently. Nice photo!
If I ever feel a little down in the dumps all I have to do to turn right side up again is go to a library. It just feels right to be there. Browsing the stacks is one of my greatest pleasures.
You wouldn't believe how many books I have on my coffee table right now, all from libraries in and around Little Rock. And I'll read them all.
Libraries are wonderful! My girls and I visit our local library every week. It's on of our favorite places to visit. REvee

It's Redwitch here, love this thread as I'm a librarian :) Much nicer than the scary green caterpillar thing in your old blog ;)
Although I'm not in a public library, I'm a law librarian in a new university in Wales, but it's so nice to hear people appreciating their local library, ours in the UK are often much underfunded and they are so valuable. Carnegie did a great job.
