Carroll Co. Is Covered with turkey and chicken farmers. The farmers grow the chickens and they are processed at Green Forest and Berryville in the Tyson plants. Most everyone make their living by chickens. Those people who raise turkeys send their feathered product to Huntville for processing.
I see people wearing caps with this written on the front, IT HARD TO KEEP YOU HEAD IN THE CLOUDS WHEN YOU WORK WITH TURKEYS. This is true for chicken farmers also.
With all the talk the last few years of the chicken flu I have wondered if Carroll Co. Would survive if it struck here.
In my grandfathers day a family would settle on 80 acres and raise a few head of cattle, make a garden, grow tomatoes know as a cash crop, have a few hens for eggs.
Living their days in Pease and harmony with the land.
That has all changed now we have cars which have to have gas so we can get to work to pay on our debts that probably we will go to our grave still owing.
perhaps you would think that wealth and prosperity has arrived in our land but how long can we keep on keeping on?

You comment on things that I think about a lot. People seem to want more these days than they used to. Or maybe there's just more to want. Whichever it is, there doesn't seem to be much value on put on living within our means - many of us nowadays live on credit and will go to our graves owing.

I'm less inclined to buy chicken from Tyson than I am from the local farmer. I grew up on chicken that pecked in the yard. Comparing the taste of the meat of yard chickens to the meat of industry-produced chickens is like comparing the taste of ambrosia to oatmeal.
i had to read a few things on the avain flu at work last week. i hadn't even thought about it.
The photo with both background and foreground images is quite beautiful. Almost mystical.

" I totally agree, society makes us want and we give in and go and get, and if you don't people look at you as if your some kind of strange being they don't want to know.
