Relatives

My sister thinks we have this John Rogers as a ancestor. I don't know if this is true but I have been doing some reading on the net about John Rogers. He was burned at the stake in 1555 during Queen Mary's rein.
She was strong catholic and tried to stamp out the protestant religion in England. This man had the honor of being her first victim to be burned at the stake.
He had been a catholic priest that had renounced that church and converted to Martin Luther's religion.
whether we came from his line or not does not really matter but I found his life worth studying.
If you would like to know more about his martyrdom click on his name and read.

It's fascinating to read about the lives of those who came before us. This man was dedicated to his religious view, wasn't he, to accept death instead of considering other belief systems.

Patsy, I put a link to your blog on my site, advertised as an Arkansas blog. Hope that's okay.

Well, Flet and I have been checking. The John Rogers connection is not proven and could be a myth. Our ancestor is Giles Rogers...but....we are connected to George Rogers Clark and Wm. Clark of the famous Lewis and Clark...and we could be related to
John Rogers, who Mary had burned, but it is not proven.

i would gladly take him as a Grandsire, but now I am not sure!

He was a Newgate where our theif-ancestors were in prison!!! I thought that was interesting.
